just heard on radio some kids "oh my god, just got my results innit an I got an A in English, oh my god" Oh the irony....
If you put in a moderate amount of effort you'll get at least a C in any subject at GCSE. With modular exams and fiddled coursework the schools make themselves look good. Failing that, put the student on a BTEC course where they'll be told what to copy for 2 years and end up with the 'equivalent' of 4 GCSEs.
********. I had a few friends that put a lot of effort in and got D's in Maths, English and Science. Other subjects like Media are a joke, I did it at GCSE, spent all year playing on stupid internet games, did some pathetic coursework that a 10year old could have done, went into the exam and made a sitcom up as I went along and still got a B.
I think some are harder than others I worked my knackers off a few years back to get a C in German, whereas no end of people got A*'s in Drama and Media.
As is being suggested with A-levels, the harder subjects should carry more weight when applying for college, uni or jobs.
That's probably one of the reasons so few take MFL subjects nowadays. And even then they're easier than they used to be. Honestly!
RE: ********. I missed a full year of GCSE, and had a 30% attendance record on a reduced timetable in the last year. Still got 2 B's for English Language & Literature, plus a B in History.
Piece o' p*ss.
