We loan out a £1.25m signing and replace him with a kid on loan who has absolutely no experience at any substantial level (but who may well be a world-beater for all I know). We don’t address the left-sided issue, and have no one to provide any threat from a wide position. We do not appear to have delivered the head coach the wish list he itemised recently. Unless something happens in the next 30 minutes or so I suspect we may well be in for a very long season. Or perhaps not. Who knows?

Well I've not seen much of Kane so far ,but he's not been inspirational.
Depends what the head coach thinks.

I don’t think anyone really knows what to expect this season when we haven’t seen everyone play yet.

I’m reasonably satisfied with the window.

Styles is first choice left wing back & both Ben Williams & Oduor can be back up as well as Jordan Williams been comfortable either side.

Our season depends on getting the new forwards up to speed & Morris back from injury.

I think we’ve got a good keeper, good defence & good midfield. With a bit more quality & more importantly, depth up top we should be strong for 90 minutes & whilst I don’t expect a promotion chasing season I think we can be comfortably mid table.

nobody knows. that's the beauty of football.
think about what it would be like if we all knew what was going to happen.
I suspect the season will be as short / long as it normally is.

Think it’s fairly underwhelming and we haven’t significantly improved a weak squad but we appear to have held our best players and have plenty coming back from injury or newly available.

Please excuse my wonderment. At no time in my 55 years following the club did I expect us to be paying top side of a million for a player who we then loan out!

We finished 5th in the league with Styles playing LWB for something like 40 games. Styles is still a Barnsley FC player.

We’ve got depth at CB, options in CM, and options at wing back. With the Belgians and Morris we’re adding three strikers to Woodrow, Frieser, Woodrow, Vic, Cole and Oduor. That makes us pretty heavy in that area too.

    Reight squad shaping up.

"Options in CM" is a bit generous for me, I'm still not sure we've got enough depth to justify Kane going out on loan.

Hope so. But I do wonder why the head coach appears to have thought differently.

    This
If the Belgians turn out to be 1/2 decent we’ve got the makings of a decent squad, most on longish contracts etc what’s not to like.

I think having Benson, Gomez, Palmer, Halme and Styles to move in there is options

Disappointed on Kane but we’re hardly going to miss someone who hasn’t really featured for a year. You can’t lose what doesn’t play, in my mind at least. Don’t think his Barnsley career is done at all though.

Interested to know why you hope not, styles was one of the best wing backs in league last year & he’s more effective there than he has been in midfield
