Bet he..... ... nutmegs Jesus and tucks it away in the bottom right hand corner of the pearly gates. Good man George.
I find it sad that anyones life should end in such a slow horrible way. whatever his choices i would wish it on no one.
He had a second chance at life & chose not to take it. The liver he has wasted should have gone to someone else more deserving.
RE: Bet he..... He nutmegged Cruyff! The greatest player of my generation and took full responsibility for his life condition. Never asked for sympathy or pity. Those who never saw him play will never realise what a genius he was.
as i understand this wasnt as a result of the drinking after the op. True if he hadn't needed a transplant in the first place he wudnt have got the infection that led to all this. I was simply saying it is no way to go. Im sure had he had is last hours of concious lucid thought he regreted is lifestyle more than you criticse it. Lets hope now he finds peace.
Everyone's who needs a liver is deserving...regardless. George was an alcoholic. It's a disease and a life threatening one at that Such a person is unable to make rationale choices to drink or not to drink. It's desperately sad.
Well then lets damn anybody who dies from: smoking related skin cancer from sun exposure heart condtion due to overweight hit by car because they didnt pay enough attention. killed in a country with higher terroist attacks (why go there?) killed in service. what you doing in the army if you didnt expect to die? now i know im been silly and extreme there. im just saying Yes he did waste his talent and in the end his life, but that organ could have gone to someone else and exactly the same thing happen. George Best never once asked for anyones sympathy at all. And as ive already said his current illness is not because of drinking after his "second chance" "Drugs needed after his liver transplant in 2002 had made the former alcoholic more susceptible to infection."

In fairness the end of most terminal illnesses is like this - slow but inevitable. The major difference here of course that most people don't die under the glare of public and media attention and are therefore afforded a bit more dignity.

spot on he paid the price for being the first real celebrity footballer. today he would have recieved help early on.
and it is a horrible way to end a life. george lived the most extreme of live's the highs and the lows were extreme.
