Always fancied Boyd to be at WELL one day.
    Good signing by Wendy.
A David Currie type of player.

He's a good player and they are desperately short of wingers. One more and a decent creative midfielder and I think they will do well.

Sheff Weds havent had a decent/sellable asset in the form of a player since the days of Methuselah. Horrible backwards club that just hasnt a clue.

***sits back and waits for Wednesday fans to ring up radio Sheffield complaining that Carlos Carvahal doesn't know how to improve a player***

In the way that we've got a particular type of transfer target, Wednesday do too, and it appears to be the complete opposite.

They sign expensive early 30 somethings, who have big wages, come with a big price tag, little room for improvement and inevitably they'll lose them for a loss.

They might get a couple of good seasons out of Boyd, they've seen the best of Hooper, Fletcher, Wallace etc, and they might get promoted off the back of it. These aren't the sort of players who'll give them longevity in the Premier League. I'm not convinced they'll give them longevity in their battle for the top 6.

I genuinely feel the way we're going about things is better. It's frustrating yes, but is it more frustrating than buying players you'd expect to win you promotion when they ultimately don't.

Agree with that. They have to take this route as their owner needs them promoted and needs it quickly. As does Aston Villa's owner. Trouble is now so do the clubs dropping from the prem, the fulhams, wolves, birminghams and Norwich. Some are on the path to financial ruin if they don't go up in next couple of years & the numbers simply don't stack up that they can all go up. Losing £20/£30/£40m a season (financial fair play aside) can be sustained with mega wealthy billionaires for a number of years. However these owners didn't make their money by losing millions every year in a business. Don't forget they aren't fans. They are doing it either for money or status. And if they are continually disappointed, and losing huge chunks of their wealth year on year, they may just do an Oyston, Venky, Bechetti and run the club to the point of ruin.

Honestly think Wednesday, Villa and Birmingham will go the way Portsmouth & Bolton did unless they get up in next 3 seasons. And each year of failure they'll have to pump even more millions in to buy more 30 year old "finished articles" to achieve the "dream".

I hope they don't - as it is the clubs employees, the small businesses that supply the clubs, and those who can't afford the losses who will suffer the most. The owners and the fans deserve everything they get though.

Sounds like the club for you.

STs available...from £500 wing seats in their crumbling Kop to £700 if you want a bit of legroom and a decent view in their grandstand.

Drove past the rustbowl last week...plenty of cracked fascia and shoddy paintwork for you to enjoy...

Are you getting a season ticket this year or are excuses at the ready?
