Wish we had kept him, think he would have been decent in L1, 2 very well taken goals yesterday Nit given a fair opportunity here
nah. he was nowhere near championship level for us, which is where we were. he's found his level in the 4th tier. power to him. can't keep L2-quality players on the books, just in case we get relegated. I didn't hear anyone objecting at the time.
George is like Vic to me. Both honest triers who will have a decent lower league career, with the potential for a bit more. It was never going to happen for either with us ......... they needed to move in order to reach the levels they have now found. Good luck to both.
He scored both goals against our academy side defense dont forget. League 2 is his level. He wouldn't have same impact as Vic would have coming off the bench, hes neither as physical or works as hard
Didn't he call Barnsley a craphole, before proceeding to move to the bright lights of err... League 2 Doncaster?
Good point, mate. He looked well out of his depth for us. Biggest example being his best game for us game when he was playing right wing back!
No? He was critical of the club due to the lack of opportunity he was given. He never referred to Barnsley as a 'crap hole' as far as I'm aware.
He definitely mentioned Barnsley in one interview, not sure if that was his words but I know he said something regarding Barnsley in a negative light. I think I know what interview you're referring to, the one when he was on loan at Walsall?
I think in the Walsall one, he was asked something along the lines of, would he be trying to impress the coaches at Barnsley to which he replied, he didn't care what they thought (or something similar). I couldn't remember the exact context of the Doncaster one, so I've just watched it back. The interviewer asked if it was easy for him integrating into the squad, with him being in the South Yorkshire patch already, and he said 'I hope it's not like Barnsley here', before commenting on some of the players and facilities at Doncaster. I took that more of a criticism of the club, rather than the town.
Absolutely the right decision to get shut. He was useless when he played for us and despite playing for numerous coaches of a few years, not one of them saw much in him.
Always strikes me as someone who thinks he’s better than what he is. Always tried his best for us so can’t really criticise, but he’s found his level.
Can't believe someone has started a thread saying we should have kept him . He's L2 / conference standard at best.
The whole deal and loan deal was rushed through at the very last minute and he eventually found himself in a too high level at his age. He has now seemingly found his level and matured so best of luck to him
