Lets hope he declines it and joins us, he wont get game time in the Premier League. Only early cup games i could see him playing.
He may end up joining on loan again or Stoke have looked at interest in him and want a fee. I'd have him back for sure
The offering of a contract has got to be to make some money on him because, as much as he played well for us, I'm not sure he'll ever cut it in the premier league. If someone wants to come back to this thread in say five years time when he's banging the goals in for a premier league side I'll happily admit I'm wrong but I really can't see it.
Totally agree! Mid table Championship player at best in the future and a solid League 1 player now. Would be a good signing for us and does have a potentially decent transfer value within the next few years.
Stoke would be entitled to a fee anyway, he's only 20 int he? I really liked the lad and I feel there's much more to come from him. LJ talked about his "price" putting him off, and fitness issues, said we could find better for our money. I think he's worth bringing back.
Can't say I agree. I think he's every chance of being a regular player in the premier league. He's a few years off that standard at the minute, but as a target man, he's one of the best I've seen in a long time. Knows where the net is too. Much better than the likes of Jon Walters and Chris Wood who have gone on to play at a higher level. Think if he came back here next season, he'd only get better.
We can't be sure on that as Waring played for us in a lower league. It's like those rating Holgate as highly as Stones.
He has the chance to make himself a premier league player as he has years ahead of him and he's seemingly about to get a new contract with a premier league team but he would have to improve a large amount if he's to become a regular in the Stoke side. He's not quick enough for the pace of the premier league and is it just me that thinks he doesn't win nearly enough headers for his size? Also, Chris Wood isn't a good example as he's nowhere near a premier league regular, I'm not sure how many games he's played but it's not a lot but yeah I'll give you Walters, he's made a premier league career out for himself and I never saw that coming.
Walters played for us in league 1. Okay Wood didn't but he was much more ineffective for us at that level than he was for other sides at that level.
I suppose Wood wasn't the best example although I did say a higher level, which could mean the championship I suppose it's a matter of opinions. I agree that he's a long way off being a Stoke regular, but I feel that if he signed a 3 year deal, he'll have made between 30 and 50 first team appearances for them by the time that's over. What he lacks in pace he seemed to make up for in power and strength, some strikers have made a career out of having no pace.
That is true and I suppose if he keeps getting in the right areas he could score a few. I wish him all the best anyway, he always put the effort in for us and performed more regularly than most of our team last season.
Played in quite a few games with little support, with a team that created very little, that relied on dead ball situations or hit and hopes yet still managed to notch a few. Still young, still time to get stronger, a player that I will keep an eye out for whether it be with us or not. Good luck George.
Not sure why people are ruling out Waring as a Premier League prospect. The lad had everything including an eye for a goal.
