The striker we need, nowhere near first team at Stoke, send Wilkinson back and get him on Loan

Why are people saying send Wilkinson back all of a sudden? I'm not saying he's great or he's **** but he's played less than 90 minutes for us in total and scored a goal yet people are saying he's crap.

    You make a good point.
Why have we loaned him in if we don't play him!

We're in the enviable position of having one more loanee than we can actually play so what ever formation we play one of them cannot play.

The transfer window will be shut this time next week.

Will we have even more loans to choose from?

I'm not holding my breath for any permanent signings. If I'm honest I don't have an issue with loans provided they are in positions we need them, they are better than we already have at the club and we have a genuine intention to buy them. I can see the value in players like Crowley but they should be an absolute exception. I don't see the point in bringing in loans just for them to sit on the bench.

We are aware there are other players out there other than ones we've previously had on loan aren't we?

First the fascination with O Sullivan now Waring.

Based on the fact that they've had successful spells with us previously, I'm guessing. Isn't that a safer bet than someone who's never played for you before?

At times it just feels like our supporters become fixated on specific targets purely because they have been here before. Maybe Waring doesn't want to come back? Maybe LJ deemed him not good enough. Maybe Stoke or Waring are happy for a loan but to a higher level?

If we took the second 'safer' approach then we'd never look to sign anyone that hadn't been here before, just in case they were no good.

FWIW I think Waring is a better player than Wilkinson but who's to say the next young striker we bring in wont be better than them both?

I think that's probably at the heart of it. Everyone, LJ included, talks about this elusive big centre forward. I can't think of a better one than Waring, in recent years. The next big thing might just be that, but from what I've seen so far, it doesn't look like it's gonna be Wilkinson. We'll see..

Definitely won't be Wilkinson on his early showings. I'd still love Smith from Swindon but that just looks like a pipe dream now. The next Ward, Shipperley or original Wilkinson would be nice.
