Has much as I liked Waring I'd much prefer us to go for someone like Matt Taylor from Bristol Rover's on a permanent deal
I'd want him but only as a permanent signing. Waring has only played 2-3 times for Stoke's reserve team this season. He has barely played any football since he left us. I liked what he brought to our team and I rated him, but I want us to sign some experienced pros, not constant kids on loan from other clubs who take 4-5 weeks to get any kind of form and if they do they'll be sold/recalled anyway.
I'd love him here. But there must be a reason he's not playing somewhere because he was everything last season that Wilkinson and Smith failed to be for us this season. When I spoke to LJ that time about Waring, he said he had something wrong with him physically that limited his time on the training ground. He then told me he'd be recruiting a better, cheaper version. I'm still waiting for that lad to sign...
Thought being injured was a pre-requisite for signing for us. 3 months on the couch of Kell just what the doctor ordered.
He said the same at the supporters trust thing a few month back, sounds like he could literally never train but being a young lad he had the natural energy to play games - sounds like he's going to have a short career if he can't get to the bottom of his problems which is a big shame.
I'll not tell you how LJ described his physical 'state' when we did the Athersley Rec Q&A. We'll not be going to the potteries in a hurry.
I was told that it was constant back problems that he kept having. This could be the reason why we didn't go back for him
Herein lies the problem. We had a crock showing great passion and contribution to the team right attitude on the pitch. Then we sign one with full fitness, seems to perform well for his country but shows no effort or the right attitude to get a run of games for us let alone contribute when he is on the field. Application and attitude are what make the difference for loanees. That's why Pearson succeeds where Rothwell, Crowley, Kiywoma etc have failed
