Their attacking play compared to ours is like comparing light to dark. Impressive stuff.

    Neither did we though.

I don't agree Germany are light years in front. They're passing the ball around nicely but they've been given so much space to do so. Also Ukraine don't offer much but have still had some half decent chances.

Saying all that I do think they will go further than us in the tournament.

To be fair Russia offered nowt and we offered not much more in terms of a threat.

It's the offensive passing that puts us to shame. We seem to run out of ideas and have players such as Sterling who are clearly not good enough and lead to passing movements breaking down.

It's not that I didn't think we played well last night I did but I just think the way the Germans play highlights the limits of our play.

Very similar game to ours. The difference being Russia scored from from their set piece whereas Ukraine didn't and Germany counterattacked and scored.

    Nothing like light and dark.

The thing is....they haven't played as good as us against a side better than Russia, yet they have come out 2-0 winners.

They had the confidence to carry on attacking against inferior opposition whereas we went into our shell at 1 nil up and tried to defend leading to our late lapse. It's why Germany win things and we don't. Also I didn't see any passengers in the German side where I saw 2 or 3 in our team. Again I thought we were good within our limits but Germany show us those limits.

I think their final ball's are better but overall I don't think they were any better than us.

Ukraine had more clear chances against them than Russia had against us & I think most would agree that Russia are a better side than the Ukraine.

The best team I've seen so far are Croatia, mainly because they are a proper team with quality players in their proper positions.

So many sides pick the best players rather than the best team like France having 4 central midfielders in the side & Germany playing Gotze as a striker.

All those saying not much difference know in their hearts if we play them in the final stages of this competition we will lose.

When they were a avarage a few years ago they were still very good in tournaments.
Now they are a very very good side and better in tournaments....I'd say a good 6 to 8 years in front of us

Yes I'd agree. We could also do with finding someone as good as passing as Kroos.

We have James Milner. And Jack Willshire.

They'll be bricking themselves if they face us. They'd have to stop Adam Lallana, Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling from scoring. So they'd have to play one at the back....

Could probably do without a goalie to be fair or play goalie when needed.

To be honest, I ended up shouting at the TV. I got absolutely fed up of the commentators telling me how good the Germans were when all I could see was them passing in front of the Ukraine defence, and refusing most opportunities to shoot. OK, Ukraine had limited ambition, and when they pushed forward late on to try for the equaliser from the corner, they got hit on the break for the German to score their second. But for the most part, the Germans did not look dangerous, in spite of their overwhelming possession because they were unable to get behind them, and because they do not have a proper striker.

The Russians did the same thing to England, but got lucky once. As far as I could see, Ukraine got unlucky twice against the Germans. Lets stop making conclusions after the first matches of a competition. England played well, apart perhaps for Kane and Sterling. The Russians were a lot bigger, and just once they made it count, but if England had been better and cooler on the break, it would not have mattered. We will beat Wales and we will progress.
