So our Top Tier Clubs are still being "raped and pillaged" by "fit and proper" persons - typically overseas ... and despite Pompey + Brum's experience, almost to a man, the clubs supports welcome them with open arms .... Well, how refreshing to see the top German clubs success and view on these "fit and proper" persons take overs !!!! Article here Outside of City, where the supporters almost unanimously welcomed Sheikh Mansour, his oil millions and the club's transformation, the takeover has been widely reviled. Hans-Joachim Watzke, the chief executive of Borussia Dortmund, City's conquerors in the Champions League group and finalists at Wembley on 25 May, has sneered at the idea of sheikhs taking over a city's club, saying his supporters, who control their club, would never entertain it. English football freely allows its historic clubs to be bought and sold, permitting buyers with no previous connection to pump money in and chase success. City in 2008 were the Premier League project for which Sheikh Mansour had been waiting and Mubarak, a senior political operator in Abu Dhabi, has wrapped the Manchester club into marketing a glamorous, modern image of success for the dynastic desert emirate. Having spent more than £1bn they do not expect to be at Wembley ashen-faced, watching a limp defeat in front of a global audience.

Re: Germany showing some Backbone - while we Brits lie back and think of .. erm Engl Hark back to charloi when shearer scored the winner and both countries failed to progress from group stages. English football has *****ed all it's money on bringing a collection of foreign superstars and journeymen leaving the division having around a 3rd of the players eligible to play for England whilst the various factions in charge squabble like children over TV millions Germany since that game have rebuilt the game from scratch. Supported clubs with the building of academies. Keeping leeches away. About two thirds of the bundesliga qualify to play for Germany. German football is build on bedrock not quick sand.

Re: Germany showing some Backbone - while we Brits lie back and think of .. erm Engl Well Man U may win trophies, BUT it has cost their "fans" loads ... Taking into account the new prices, and this season's freeze, United's tickets will have increased on average by 5.8% over the last six years, since the Glazer family completed their takeover. That compares with an average 5.9% increase during the previous six years.
