I can not think of a worse England squad in recent memory. Even the ones that didn't qualify had talent, just were badly managed or let themselves down. But this is just dire. A good manager would struggle to do anything with it, it is the quality of a lower premier league side. They are nowhere near ready for a world cup, even the Reds could give this lot a game. Where is this generation's Gazza? We don't even have a David Platt.
Carlton Palmer would be an improvement. Can't string more than 4 passes together. Credit to Chile, though. I've enjoyed watching them. Playing proper football.
A dearth of quality all over the park. Making up the numbers next summer Not even a glimmer if entertainment.
Gazza would struggle in this side because there is not one player anywhere near as good as him or with anywhere near his level of ability.
Hoddle would still get in this midfield if he hadn't retired years ago. I can't ever remember an England team so poor. Up front is just as bad, bring back Lineker and Kevin Keegan.
I don't think they will need their first team. I doubt one England player would get in the Germany team.
Certainly will Marlon. We were obviously just looking at the options yesterday but will field a much stronger team on Tuesday who will definitely be up for playing the Germans. Saying that it will be a really tough test for us.
