self-defence my ar*e, but the jury bought it. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/merseyside/8167000.stm
Specially selected from the right side of Stanley Park? You can just imagine his brief trying to weed out Everton Supporters cant you Dont really have the facts though - and am very suspicious of media portrayal of events so he was probably cleared fairly - the self defence argument is plausible
I agree with you, but it does seem strange that he admits hitting him first. It must be horrible having to put up with people constantly having a go at you but I'm surpirsed you can use the self-defence argument when no-one actually makes contact with you. The other thing I can't understand is what did all the others do differently to Gerrard to be guilty?
I just hope this will stop people going to sports men/women and trying to start a fight. i think this incident was on the night of a game and Gerard might have been pumped up. Footballers are highly strong people and people should not go to footballers and start trouble and then go running to the police. people don't do this to boxers because they no they can hurt them but footballers can too.
In fairness, I don't think the bloke did in this case. I'm not saying he behaved aggressively towards Gerrard, and the jury clearly believe he did, but Gerrard came up to him and a simple request obviously escalated
i not saying this about Gerard i am saying this about footbalers in general. I feel very sorry for joey Barton because people have come up saying stuff about his brother/half brother and then when he gets mad and goes to punch them they cant handle his strength or speed and get beat up. This happens alot to footballers. Barnsleys robert hassell Was complaining about certain barnsley fans coming up to him in the street and he was not happy about it.
yes i once read what Ricky hatton said about him and he said its crazy what he gets when he goes out drinking. Hatton said i don't get any of that but people go to JB and try and get him to crack. people have got to remember hes human and if people said stuff about your brother like they do to him you would crack. Even beckham did the other day in LA.
Gerrard was found not guilty because the "afray" issue which the others pleaded guilty to, took place outside the bar and Gerrard was not present. He had stayed inside the bar when the others went outside to continue the matter. That is why he has been found not guilty of the charge.
Cheers mate. Does that mean the lad who elbowed the bloke first only pleaded guilty to the offence outside the bar then and the CPS therefore chose not to pursue the incident in the bar as it would be daft to charge him twice?
Wasn`t self defence when he were straining at leash to go back and give him some more. ****** of the highest degree.
Yet more proof that if you're rich and famous, you'll get away with it. Travesty of justice yet again.
I thought he was accused of "Affray" Isn't "Affray" just another word for "Fighting"? It certainly seemed as though he was involved in a fight....
