We lose 3 games and now its all doom and gloom again eh? I was going to reply to every pathetic thread or single post made since I was last online. But there are that many I couldnt be arsed. So I will do it via this thread in one foul swoop. For starters, we may have lost the last 3 games, but whether you believe me or not, we werent easily beaten in any of em. In fact, quite the opposite. Yes, we capitulated second half against Ipswich. But we should have been out of sight at half time. Last week at Upton Park we were competitive by all accounts. And but for that set-play, and a Rob Green wonder save, we may have got a fantastic point. And yesterday, we came up against the best team I have seen at Oakwell this year. As an attacking force they looked better than a lot of Premier League sides. And yet we could/should have been 2 or 3 goals to the good before their soft equaliser. And while they passed thru and around us at will second half, we still created chances. But we lost another soft goal, and then a dodgy penalty. Other than that, I dont recall Blackpool creating many other clear chances. So yes, we were the orchestrators of our downfall in those games and maybe that is cause for concern. But we could easily have remained unbeaten. If Davies sticks Jacobs thru ball away against Ipswich for 3-0, its game over. If Edwards' header had gone in against West Ham, it would have been interesting. And yesterday, had Done scored thru on goal, had Davies done the same, or had he not slipped for the other, had his or Jacobs 25 yarders gone in... all ifs and buts, I know that. But does it not give you the hope that it gives me? That come January, Hillcroft will be able to shuffle the pack and make the neccessary changes? If everything, and every player is so bad all of a sudden, then why cant I wait for the next game? Why am I not picking holes everywhere, even in our better players? . Apparently, I now read that Steele has been **** for 3 games. So after 20 games of class, you feel justified in criticising him because he could have done better..? Jeez people, check out De Gea, or any other star keeper. Mistakes and rare bad days occur. Back the lad and remember the mass of points he has earnt us.. David Perkins is also being blamed. The reason we are losing apparently. What tosh! Davies cant hold up the ball, has no pace and misses one on ones.. HE HAS 8 GOALS IN 10 GAMES! Jesus wept, what do you want for a league two freebie..?! And of course our captain, who isnt a captain, allegedly, and that stops our real captains from talking and leading, apparently. As if giving the armband to somebody automatically makes them lead. They should lead without it. A total non-issue if ever I saw one. And I cant be arsed trying to defend him against yet more criticism because those haters are clearly blind, or football virgins. We miss Drinkwater and Hassell, and JayMac is never more than below average. Fixable issues. And 30 pts from 23 games is great
All im seeing at the moment is people defending a team thats just lost 3 on the bounce - just like the same as when people had a go at the doubters when we won 4 on the bounce. Swings & roundabouts really.
What so people werent spluffing all over the team and lauding it over the doubters when we won 4 on the bounce? Yet its not ok for people to criticise when we lose? Aye indeed. (btw this isnt aimed at you im just talking generally)
Fair comment Menai. And I know you werent aiming it at me as I was quick to temper the silly talk during that good run. At the end of the day, we beat 4 teams who are of similar/worse ability as us. We have since lost to 3 better, cash-rich clubs littered with Prem players. So thats why I dont understand the criticism of our better players, that I have read over the last 24 hours - Steele, Perkins, Davies and Jacob. As for Ponty, I know JayMac is *****. I just said it in a pleasanter manner - "never better than below average"
