Jesus, reading some of the posts on here, its no wonder we can't attract certain players or managers. They are written off before they even come. I have seen and read it loads of times when we sign players in the past, 'who the hell is he', 'not good enough for us' etc. But now it is actually happening with a prospective manager as well. We are no longer a club that has recently been in the Premiership or got to a Championship play-off final. Look at our attendances, we are a lower table Championship side. Some would argue that we are actually punching above our weight being in the Championship at all. Now I am neither pro or anti Davey, and I do think it was time for him to go. In fact I would have let him go in the summer, but let us give the new manager, whoever he is, the chance that Davey did not get. Our FULL backing. Davey, rightly or wrongly was up against it from day one, with people not agreeing with his appointment. Let us PLEASE not go down that road again, look where it has got us. IF Robins gets the job, we will have appointed, in my opinion, a very good up and coming young manager, who, again in my opinion, will go on to manage at the top level. So for heaven's sake let's get behind him and make sure he gets our full and unequivocal support.
    Rant over

I agree with most of that

But we are NOT overachieving being in this league and I'm sick of both people on here and in the press suggesting so.

Our crowds are poor in comparison to some teams because we've been ***** ever since Davey took over and football has, barring maybe a dozen games, been absolute rubbish to be honest.

We've done well to still get 12-13,000 given this.

Teams like Preston average the same despite being in the top 6 regularly.

If we actually did well one season we'd certainly get more like 16,000 minimum.

Fair enough, I hear what you are saying about attendances, and, like you said the football for the most part over the past couple of seasons hasn't warranted good crowds, but it will be interesting to see how many we get for the Swansea home game if Robins is the manager.

We are more than capable of being a mid to top 6 team in this division. It will take a shrewd and maybe slightly lucky manager to get our club to those heights. If Blackpool can move up the table why can't barnsley?

Burnley have proved the fairytail is still possible. Just like Barnsley did 12 years ago!

I personally think Mark Robins is a shrewd manager judging by the squad he has built at Rotherham on a shoestring. I know people wil say yeah yeah but thats in division 4! But management is management. You can judge a players ability or you can't! Davey in this department was patchy at best.

Anyone who thinkswe are punching above our weight...

at this level ought to pack in going. This is our level, it's where we have spent the MAJORITY of our history.

Believe in your own club before we start bleating that a manager who has not even been employedyet, or even said he is even interested! is not getting our full support.

Sadly ... and yet again ...

It seems that vocal minority have already made up their mind and Robbins, like Davey, will be dismissed by their all seeing eyes as the 'cheap option' and will not be able to do anything right by them.

I can see it now, that unless he waves a magic wand and we're ten matches unbeaten it'll be "Get him out now before he takes us down, should have never appointed him in the first place".

Some of the comments from some of the 'contributors' to this board make me f'king ashamed to be a Barnsley fan ... but never mind eh lads, you get to feel all important whilst shouting loudly ... ah, what's the point.
