Probably won't get in top three, but he deserved the title without a doubt.

Shouldn't come in the top ten. Isn't it one fight in 12 months and only won that by a majority decision. Must be loads of british sportsmen who deserve to be above him

He will be shortlisted and so he should be. But one majority points decision this year isn't enough for the top three. Andrew Strauss top scored out of both sides in the Ashes and captained us to victory. Jenson Button won the world championship for an F1 team that nearly didn't start the season. Jessica Ennis got gold with I believe the 3rd highest score of all time. There's three more deserving.

totally agree with that! What annoys me is when a brit has done something brilliant ( and beating a scary man mountain is one) we dont appreciate the achievement!

    Your comment on Jenson Button

The reason Brawn started the season so well was due to the fact they'd been preparing the car for over 12 months. This gave them a huge advantage over the other teams, who had to play catch up. Hence Brawn completely losing their way over the second half of the F1 season.

I'll give you Strauss and Ennis, but this is the first Heavyweight champion of the world we've had since Lennox Lewis, and he did it in Germany on points - that's unheard of! Superb achievement in my eyes.

Also, heavyweights only box twice a year anyway, so you can't criticise him too much for that.

    Jim Watt...

had quite obviously bet big money on Valuev to win. His face post-fight was hilarious, and his comments about Haye pre-fight and during the fight were biased. He said before the fight he didn't think Haye was capable of being disciplined and was proven very wrong.

Its a case of 'personality' needing to be defined again.

Because if its on "personality" as well as achievement, then he walks it.

    Its never been on "personality"

I mean even Nigel Mansell won it and you cant have less personality than that

Dont think Haye will win it though he is definitely in with a chance as beating a guy twice his size and who looks like he should be a villain in a Bond film wont do him much harm

Personally I'd vote for Jess Enniss as I think her performance was outstanding and she had the same equipment as everyone else

I think Button will get it though - Not sure I agree with Loko's statement though

"The reason Brawn started the season so well was due to the fact they'd been preparing the car for over 12 months"

Err they had the same time as everyone else - the reason they started so well was Ross Brawn figured out the best way to interperet the new rules better than most others the others caught up because they nicked Brawns diffuser idea. And Brawn were still competative even at the end of the season.

To win a championship you need a car and a driver - Barachello had the same car but showed why he would never be a World Champion
Had Button had a Red Bull I still think he may have won depending who got the other Brawn seat. Dont think there was much to chose between the cars over the season

Its even more impressive - he did it one handed

Apparantly he damaged his right hand in round 3 - suspected break and was basically only throwing punches with his left for the rest of the fight

Didnt see it so dont know if thats how it looked but if thats true its an even greater acheivement than it seems at first

I'm just going from what someone from inside the sport told me

Brawn, as a new team, were able to focus on this season long before the other teams could as they weren't involved in the race for the championship. Of course Brawn were competitive all the way through the season, but take the first six races away and the points tally definitely slowed down.

I know after the third race the guys at McLaren had to work 3 weeks non-stop with no time off just to try and get the car back up to speed.

I'm not the world's biggest F1 fan but when I had it explained to me it sounded pretty legitimate
