I can't believe some of the stick Simon Davey gets on this site. I can't believe that anyone at the start of the season wouldn't have taken being 13th in the table at this stage and only 7 points off the play-offs with a trip to Anfield in the 5th Round of The FA Cup to come. Admittedly he has had some money to spend, but it pales in to insignificance compared with the rest of the division. We might not be playing the best football at the moment but we have lost the heartbeat of our team in Anderson de Silva. On top of all the above we are above both Wednesday and United - how may people on here would not have snapped the Footballing Gods hand off if we offered all this at the start of the season?

Come on Dirk. Barnsley fans are never happy, always complaining about something. We were **** last night but won, we were great against Blades, Wednesday and Stoke and didn't. If we win playing crap then it's '**** football, I'd rather lose playing good' and then if we lose like we did it's 'rubbish, Davey out, we can't grind out results'. He's done a great job this year yet people still are not happy. he's gone from being brilliant when we were in the playoffs to people suggesting Shep should get **** because we had a bad run. Fabulous loyalty from the same people who say 'no loyalty in football these days' re: Nardiello, McPhail etc.

Well that's the way I see it - cue abuse.

I expected a relegation scrap this season

And thought we might just go down, so how the heck can I complain at Davey!?

He's worked wonders I think in general...

Football fans as a species like a good moan. I don't think we're any more or less fickle/moaners/unreasonable than any other set of supporters. Except Sheff Wed. And Leeds. And Newcastle.

But last night could have gone horribly wrong down to the manager not having a sub keeper and our first choice keeper playing well over an hour seriously restricted in his movement. Thank God it didn't but I think it's worthy of debate all the same.

Doing far better than I expected this season. I do have a few concerns with SD, but I put those down the lack of experience. He can only get better.
He appears to have a good list of contacts throughout football, and got the respect with both players and staff down at the club.

Agree entirely on the sub keeper, just think in general he's doing a very good job and would love to see some stability at the club instead of our revolving door policy

I think Davey and the team are doing better than everyone thought they would. Long may it continue.

Way better than last seasons start but.....

we were in the Premier League and since those dizzy days people think anything less than that is ****. Its a pity really the expectations of our fans now many need a reality check. Average attendance this season 10,500 after a good first half of the season, last season after a relegation scrap 12,800. What do the Barnsley public want? The Galacticos??

    Why?

do'nt necessarily agree that they are right in a lot of cases but I think some have very good and fair points of view. If its total bolloxor abuse fair enoughthats out of order but I would defend anybodys right to air their opinion on debatable points.

Again i agree on the point of view thing, just think a lot of people find the smallest things to criticise him for. Just don't want us to become one of those clubs that are laughing stocks because theu can't look at the situation objectively and realise what they have. Currently, we are exceeding my expectations considerably
