Daily Fail? Economical with the truth? Noooooo.... http://tabloid-watch.blogspot.com/2009/10/mail-and-sunday-telegraph-cat-alysts.html
It matters not how the mail worded it The fact is that somebody owning a cat was given by a judge as a reason why that person could stay in this country and that is utterly fecking crazy
oh and the fact that someone has a girlfriend meaning they can't be split up because of their human rights is also crazy. In that case then any married man in England should be able to commit murder. They can't be sent down because splitting the relationship up would be against his human rights.
Glad you found that I read the Daily Mail article and smelt a rat somewhere - especially as the comment "one detail of many" was included even in their reporting but wondered what the real truth was. You've saved me looking now By the way did you see the Mail set a record last week - most ever complaints for a single newspaper article - for its comment on Gatelys death http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8314577.stm
I wonder how many people who complained Actually read the article without the specific intention of being offended by it... How many joined the facebook group, "complain about the daily mail dissing stephen gately" with direct links to the article and the PCC This wasn't about how many complaints were lodged. This is about how organised people can get when complaining. In the same way that the andrew sach / Brand / Ross ****** seemed to be organised.
Yes it does matter The mail reported that " Migrant facing deportation wins right to stay in Britain... because he's got a cat" Although the cat was mentioned it wasnt the reason why he was allowed to stay but a mere detail I agree that whether or not he has a cat is something that should carry no weight but it does seem that it wasnt the reason why he was allowed to stay Also he wasnt an illegal immegrant as he became as the story progressed. What annoys me is this article gives a completely false reason for criticising our immegration policy when there are plenty of much more legitimate reasons to pick from. And your second point in the post below - if the man has settled with a British partner it is definitely a factor that should be considered and given some weight. It shouldnt give automatic right to remain - and it doesnt by the way - but it is definitely something to consider. Even more so if there are children involved(but not pets). The Murder analogy doesnt hold at all You are here comparing a legal migrant wanting to remain in this country with a criminal - thats a bit much
Did you read it though? I didn't complain, but it was a disgusting article. I couldn't believe it was printed. It's in a completely different league to the Ross/Brand thing even in the bandwagon stakes. Anything that gets people realising what an absolutely despicable newspaper The Daily Mail really is, is fine by me. So long may the negative press continue.
