We will have to endure a week of people telling us how great he was Good player I know But there were better players at Man U in his time Denis Law, Bobby Charlton Watch the European Cup and there is a player called Aston? This guy had a great game that day In my veiw George gets his fame because he was the first pop star footballer But he cannot be compared to modern players such as the like of Gascoigne and Rooney
I don't have any sympathy for him either and yes, he has brought it all on himself. Can't agree that there were better players than him though - he was certainly the best (no pun intended) player at United at the time, probably the best in Europe and possibly the best in the world - including Pele. If in doubt watch all of the coverage that will inevitably follow his death - and then tell me Gazza was as good. Gazza was good - but not a patch on Best. Just my opinion like!!
Cant compare Best to Rooney/Gazza, miles better those two not fit to lace his boots as they say, think he was better than Law but not sure re Bobby Charlton, he's probably the best player i ever saw live, he really was the complete footballer, as for Georgie's health problems, unfortunatly i agree he's brought it on himself
The comments are made because Best has brought it on himself and deserves no sympathy whatsoever. Hurry up, George. Great footballer or not, you won't be missed - you ungrateful, profligate tvvat. Bye.
Alcohol addiction is classed as an illness. Therefore there are lots of medical arguments to state that instead of bringing it on himself that he actually struggled with a disease which will kill him.
Ah that's it... Someone's ill and probably going to die soon so all of a sudden they're marvellous and we should have a national day of mourning for them. PS, I know that's not what you said, but that's the kind of crap that comes out after this sort of thing.
RE: that was uncalled for So he's not profligate? He's had two livers and yet he's not profligate? I stand by my words. If it offends you, bad luck.
No one is advocating that Besty lies in state. But its good to remember the talent that he had.. I'm too young to remember him in his prime but from what I have seen he was probably the most talented footballer these islands have produced in modern times.
Diseases kill lots of people. What about the woman in Cornwall who had to run to the TV news because her NHS wouldn't pay twenty grand for experimental breast cancer drugs? If that woman were George Best, she'd have had the best medical attention that money could buy. Let Best die. **** him. He's had a transplant that he did not deserve and promptly went back to the pub. No sympathy at all for him. Had he played for Barnsley, my feelings would have been the same.
Anyone in his position should be should be shown some respect. I wonder about the mental state of some posters on this site.
