It seems it is coming installed with some burning software called Sonic. Now my dad seems to have been having a bit of trouble getting rid of this on his PC. But I just want to know if it will be safe for me to remove straight from the off, using add/remove programs - and it wont fack up my new unit. I will be using Nero 6 for my burning.

I would wait and see how the software runs, how it reacts with other programmes, and how good or badit is before getting rid. Have you hunted round for any Sonic forums to see what others' experiences have been?

Unfortunately, the presence of Nero 6 seems to prevent me from transferring ordinary files, including photographs, onto discs. I actually have to use Nero to burn them on for me.

    XP or Vista?

I'm not too sure that Nero 6 will work on Vista.

    Opted for XP mate

Could have had Vista for the same price - but decided to go with the tried and tested.

Because my dad has had problems with his popping up all the time - very annoying.
