Not wishing to be negative, and as i am a manager with budgets, targets, bonuses to watch and plan for on a yearly basis and i understand running a football club is very different to many other businesses, however i do understand the need for prudence and financial stability at the club, BUT if we do NOT stay up this season then we will be back to where we started 4 years ago with i reckon a 25% loss in gate reciepts, merchandise sales down by the same, and a probable de motivated squad who would struggle to bounce back straight away.. I have got to disagree STRONGLY with Ritchie and Shepard that we have to be cost related to wages, i believe 3 good class players will do the job and put bums on seats. To demonstrate this one of my neighbours who has supported Man Utd for many many years has been pested so much by his 2 sons to get them a season ticket for the Reds that he has sucumbed and bought them aqd himself one, i think this demonstrates WHAT could be acheived if we speculated to accumalate From what i gather from the financial projections at the club and what they will have incoming this season i would estimate at around 2.6 million against the near 1 million which Mr Shepherd states, wether this is the club being economical with the figures so as not to get people to ambitious i dont know but i do feel that the club has far far more to lose by not staying in this division than the total utter disaster it would be to get relegated I believe extra revenue will come from 5 Sky games at £185.000 per game =£925.000 3000 extra season tickets at a average of £200 per ticket would be £600.000. Leeds, Wedensday, Sunderland, Birmingham, Cardiff,Palace, Southampton , Derby, Leicester & West Brom will all be 20.000 plus gates which i believe would be a further £1.2 million Feel free to disagree but there is a lot going for the club IF the club want it. Rant over tin hat at the ready!!!(banghead)
RE: Great post with some very pertinent comments. I think the 20,000 gates is a bit off the mark. I can only see us getting over 20,000 for Leeds and Washday.
RE: Great post with some very pertinent comments. Talking to Leicester and Derby fans they took 4000 plus to Washday and i can sse Sunderland and Brum bringing 4000 plus, in addition i believe there will be a further 3000 plus extra fans pay on the day from Barnsley.
RE: Great post with some very pertinent comments. If Sunderland are doing well they'll fill the away end and snap us as many seats in with our fans as they can get.
"Leeds, Wedensday, Sunderland, Birmingham, Cardiff,Palace, Southampton , Derby, Leicester & West Brom will all be 20.000 plus gates" Really? Are you sure? Palace a 20,000 plus gate?! Maybe Leeds and Wednesday, Sunderland possible.....but I'd be surprised if we manage 2 20,000+ gates. p.s. The divider for thousands is a comma "," - a full stop for numbers denotes a decimal point.
Already Concerned!!!! Some good points We needed a known player to sign for the club to keep momentum going I think a decent name player would have kept the interest going in season tickets But, probably too late now Also, talk about signing Foster and another young guy from Man U hasen't set the place on fire has it More so when they go and sign for Burnley and Bradford.....I mean - BRADFORD !!! But like someone (Heaney ?) said on here a couple of days ago - there aint that much happening at other clubs is there? So lets wait and see what happens
Why is Andy Ritchie only interested in workingwith the younger ones? - We need an experienced player Why is Ritchie not looking towards an experinced Defender and Striker? Puzzles me!
RE: Why is Andy Ritchie only interested in workingwith the younger ones? - We need an experienced pl Maybe he is... Foster's experienced for example.
