I got thinking today about how different we all see the same match.

Firstly, I was away on holiday when we got the wins over Ipswich and Southend so I can't comment on those matches. However, in the games that I have seen since I have seen nothing from Kyel Reid to suggest that he is a footballer. He has shown me that he can run fast but nothing else.

Having said that, I read some threads on here raving about him ... opinions eh.

I felt yesterday that he gave the ball away very cheaply, made unforced errors and was largely ineffective.

Cue abuse from his fans ...

Can't agree with you. He can beat a man, he's very strong for his size (note the incident, first half, when he held off a defender while waiting for a high ball to drop, and beat 2 or 3 men in a very close space before being awarded a freekick, and also the way he forced his way through for his one-on-one.) As you said, he's fast. He can put in a good cross (though thats not a great asset with our current front two).

Yesterday wasn't his best game, but this boy can definitely play. :)

I'm waiting to be convinced. I heard such rave reviews whilst phoning home during the hol but so far he's been spectacularly unspectacular for me.

Point taken on the holding up play ... unfortunately for me the countless times the ball was given away by him or when he failed to trap it and lost out as a result count over and above it.

Anyway, I didn't want this to be a 'slate Reid' thread, but I was gobsmacked that so many other contributors thought he had a 'reyt game' yesterday. I can't remember who it was but I read someone say that he ran Hassle close for MOTM ... which I thought was staggering.

I for one wouldn't grumble if we were to take him on a season-long loan. Ok, he should have beaten Jensen one-o-one yesterday but that for me was all he did really wrong and he'll learn from it!

He had a decent enough game

Not a massive fan missen yet but I think he is certainly worthy of a start.

What you think of Hayes yesterday mate? Honestly not a dig at you or at causing the Hayes argument again, just honestly wondering what you thought - personally thought he was trying to prove a point regarding his workrate and effort yesterday to try and get regularly back upfront. Him and Nardi have never had a chance together regularly for me, and I think they deserve the next few games - thought they both did well.

It's a good job that people think differently. but it still sticks in my mind that quite a few supporters who sat behind me, thought that Mike Sheron was thr best thing since sliced bread.

    Well

both played well for 70 mins or so putting a lot of effort in. Think Hayes has put more effort in since his spell on the side. Still dont think he will ever make a 20 a season man at this level. Better suited to playing in the hole with a stronger midfield or wide where he has offered more protection than say Devaney for our distinctly dodgy left back.

Nardiello has 2 more games I suspect before he's back on the bench. He's played quite well recently but needs to hit the net with his chances.

A new striker is likely to arrive in the new year so its a partnership that has run out of time IMHO.

no abuse, but i couldn't disagree more

how old is this lad, 18/19? For a player so young with no league experience he has shown incredible maturity for me and has looked better by the match - he was my choice for MOTM on Boxing Day. Got in some good positions and ran at the full back with pace and skill, looked dangerous and put some good crosses into the box (which he does consistently). The weight of his passing also impressed me a great deal, lots of balls through tight gaps and resulted in Hayes and Nardiello getting the ball to feet far more than we've seen in recent games. Finally, he seems to offer more cover to the left back (whoever is chosen, none of them are any good) than McIndoe ever did, and I think that has helped us out defensively.

You are quite right, we do see games very differently, but Reid for me has done exceptionally well to make us forget about McIndoe so quickly and I hope he stays until the end of the season

I agree with most of that

and especially the added cover he gives defensively.

Not MOTM though, i gave that to Bobby
