Was full of confidence a couple of weeks ago - flurry of signings and promise of more on the way! Davey outlining the fact that he knew where the weeknesses were and the fact that he had released two mainstays of the defence over the last few seasons just confirming that. I am aware that there are still 17 days to kick off and that a new keeper is in the pipeline but since Lucketti re-signed for United there has not been a mention of other targets for CH. I am also aware of the desire to keep things under wraps until the deal is completed but we did know about most of the others well in advance of the official announcement. If Lucketti was the first choice then I would have expected No2 to be brought in very quickly before the trip to Portugal ( Several suitable available CH's have been mentioned on here already). I can only assume that the lack of action is due to the fact that we are actually paying a fee for somebody which would probably mean a player from abroad or a lower league. I would have hoped for an experienced "Championship" CH to play alongside Reid or Nyatanga ( Reid improved toward the end of the season but is still not the CH we need neither is Nyatanga who is ofcourse injured and not signed yet anyway). We have been told to be patient on here many times and those "in the know" have told us that signings are imminent but still nothing has happened. Getting more and more worried as each day passes.
RE: come on Journo Tyke - any news share it with us! There's nowt to tell other than I know that the chairman and manager are trying their utmost to sign two centre halves, plus possibly one or two others. I wish they'd sign today like everyone else but some people are suggesting we aren't even trying to sign any defenders which is simply not true.
