Our goal difference is a bit of inferior to both of them. We need some big wins, or them to have big losses.
Gillingham have won 2, drawn 4 and lost 4 since they beat us in February. They're the team to catch. I reckon we could have an outside chance of getting in with 3 more wins, but 4 would be preferable! It's a long shot innit.
I personally think we'll need to win all our remaining games, to have a chance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A win v Burton would have a number of positives for us. Obviously the three points being the most important, but it would also help Wigan get the title sorted and be on the beach by the time we play them and mean Burton would be more likely to need points off Gillingham in their penultimate game.
Nah, you reckon we'd need 80 points to have a chance of top 6?. That would be unprecedented. 76 points will do it.
no surely we dont need to win every game (and finish on 80 points). the gills surely wont win all of their remaining games so it only needs a 2 game swing. if we can win 2 games that they only draw or lose, then who knows eh. this win tonight has given us that chance and now its all about what we can do at Cloughie Jnr's Burton.
To be honest and running the risk of being told ye of little faith , i think we lost our chance to make the play offs when we lost to chesterfield , yes we won tonight but i cant see us getting a result at either burton or bum hole lane...id honestly like to be proved wrong and wont give up hope until its mathmatically impossible but i fear we will be the team missing out unfortunately
the bad results go further back than that Shed, but i think the southend & scun thorpe home games were the start of the downfall.
Imagine if they only need a point each and they do a Barnsley, Huddersfield, we would be well p1ssed off Should have read all the posts before uploading this, I'll get my coat.
Good for them. Nothing to laugh at us about. Whatever happens between now and Wigan away, we've had what turned out to be a fantastic season, given where we were just four months ago. A cup win. At Wembley, ffs!! And a run of league games that saw us go from rock bottom to flirting with the playoffs. Just a few more points from that disastrous first three months and we'd be aiming even higher than that. We've got a good squad, some great lads coming through, and a manager who has tarn in his DNA. Nothing to be miserable about for this Barnsley supporter.
Problem is there are no 6 pointers, until the last game. Which is the toughest game we could possibly have. Both millwall and gillingham could very feasibly pick up just as many points as we do. A 4 point swing with 5 to go...can't see where that's coming from
We were bottom of the league a few month back. Did you see this turnaround coming? Funny old game. Not saying it's not a tough ask, but it's not the mammoth task some are insinuating. Folk are looking at all the games, all five in one go. And of course that looks a big feat. But take them one at a time, look at each on its respective merits, and there's only the Wigan away game that I'd call us underdogs in. And they'll be promoted already by then, so if we've to get a result there on the final day, I'd snatch your hand off. Do I think we'll finish in the playoffs? No idea. Because we're 3 points behind, I'd say no. But this season has proved impossible to predict. Long may that continue.
