Over the last 10 odd years changing managers has not worked one bit. With the chop looming Flicker will begin to panic and make irrational decisions to try and fix the short term and save his job....

Why don't the board offer him and the rest of the coaches a new improved deal and show them some faith? It's worked for Wigan, why would sacking the guy improve us any more than over the last decade?

    Crazy or food for thought?

I'm not arguing that he should be sacked but I take issue with a couple of your arguments.

    1. Sacking the manager over the last 10 years as almost exclusively seen us stay up.
    2. Under pressure of losing his job last season flitcroft had his best results after taking gambles

I think your right and it would aso send a message to some of the players to buck up or fek off as we believe in the manager and your not gonna get him sacked

I find it amazing a manager who has got 5pts out of 11 games and a goal difference of -16 is still being backed.
He needs to go simple as that, and when people says "yes but who do you get to replace him?" , that isnt a reason to keep a manager with a record like this season.
He's taking us down, simple as that.

You forgot last years stats and he kept us up.
He's experimenting and deserves the time to get it right.
IMO flicka proved his managerial skills last year

A lot of people over react in wanting the manager sacked after a couple of poor results but offering a manager a new deal in the situation we're in would also be an over-reaction to a couple of decent performances, which I might add has only yielded 1 point.

He's on a rolling contract anyway, which is about as secure as a football manager could want/expect.

i can't forget last season, because everyone uses it has a excuse to keep him
That has gone, and we were VERY lucky to stay up anyway.
He can't keep living off last season, all this about not wanting to be in a dog fight for relegation, well we're not going about it the right way at the moment are we?
Needs to go, table and goals against shows that.

He was very lucky last season though and there is nothing wrong with that at all. He was lucky that the formation and tactics that Keith Hill was going to start using two weeks later worked when he threw the dice and played them a couple of weeks ahead of Hills original schedule. He was also lucky that people like Harewood finally decided to put a little effort in and again lucky that palace scored when they did.

However, you show me a manager who hasn't been lucky or a successful team who's success can't be put down, in part, to luck and you'll have found a very rare thing indeed.

Flitcroft was lucky last season but it wasn't all down to luck, that was just a part of it and there is nothing negative about acknowledging you had a bit of luck.

I can't see that your suggestion is completely well founded.

Football is a ruthless environment where "underachieving" appears exposed by a league table printed in every newspaper. Every week.

Managers themselves drop players for not being up to scratch.

To give Flicker 2 years irrespective of the team's performance is irrational.

Firstly he could have taken us to League 2 by then.
Secondly in reality if he WAS taking us to League 2 then we'd need to sack him which would cost us more if his contract lasted for a greater length of time.

Boils down to common sense> And bargaining power too - Flitcroft has bugger all of that when he is rock bottom of the table.

Thats a gamble football clubs take every year. On the other hand if he is succesfull it stops clubs sniffing round and pushes the compensation up
