Give Flicker the job 'til the end of the season and then assess where we are

    I rarely post these days but here goes!

    In the poll before today's game I voted for Flicker. Obviously after today I stick by it and my reasons and thoughts remain the same;

    First of all he has brought in two assistants to help him who have instantly made him change his ideas. He admitted himself that sometimes you keep trying so hard at something that you are blinkered to change. The new faces instantly brought things to his attention that had been clear to the fans for a while. Straightaway we played with more width but most importantly we have looked to get the ball forwards. We didn't do this under Hill. We just retained the ball in our own half with absolutely no attacking purpose whatsoever until we made mistakes. The 'style' was shocking. The new faces have helped Flicker to realize this and now we attack when we get the ball. Why the hell not?! Afterall, if we are to survive in this league we NEED to win games, not try and not lose them.

    Flicker seems a lovely guy but more importantly he is absolutely committed to the club and obviously works very, very hard. He obviously sees this as an opportunity to be able to do it his way. Yes, Hill sold the 'we share the same vision' part of the partnership but it is clearly obvious that Flicker is his own Man. People suggest what happens if Flicker stays and Hill gets another job and wants Flicker. We need to focus completely on the next 4 months, end of. After that we deal with other things but we need to completely focus on the short term now.

    What is strikingly obvious to me that hasn't been in the past when we have been in relegation trouble is that the players obviously are still working tirelessly for their manager. Usually they have given up. Some of it may be personal from the players, I know, some of them have spent a long time wanting to play in this league so they sure as hell don't want to go out of it without one hell of a fight. But they are fighting tirelessly to get out of this. They are totally behind Flicker which was demonstrated to everyone in the stadium by the reaction to the 2nd goal when the players ran to Flicker.

    I simply cannot see what benefit we would gain by changing things now. We are in a dog fight, have played well since Hill's departure and have picked up results. The team want him. Changing things could totally deflate them after today. Flicker has fight and so do the players and now we are playing more positively we are going out to win matches which we MUST do.

    A new man simply couldn't do any more. If we are attacking, winning, giving more than 100% and have total commitment from the players & manager what else can any other man bring???? I simply cannot see what else we could have. Except one thing; support. And that was back today and togetherness seemed back.

    My vote still goes to Flicker. The players are fighting, the manager is fighting and now hopefully the fans are too.

    Hi Paolo, good to see you on the BBS again. Good post and I think we'll see Flicker appointed tomorrow.

    I don't know how to quote on mobile but "I simply don't see what benefit we would get from changing things now" sums up my feelings. This group of players are playing as well as they ever will this season and most importantly putting everything on the line for the red shirt, no point risking that, let's just end the uncertainty and get behind the lads!

    Appoint Flicker and use the brass saved on 'new manager wages' to bring in an extra player.
    Do we still need an extra CB??

    Absolutely great post, Paulo. Very articulate and some great points made.

    Couldn't agree more with "A new man simply couldn't do any more".

    Let's all unite in the fight.
