I'm sure Everton fans were underwhelmed when signing John Stones,Leicester fans probably felt the same when signing Luke Vardy just to name 2 of a long list of footballers who clubs have gambled on so called lower league players. This board would have melted when we signed Mick Butler from Worsbrough Bridge.

    I agree
let's see how we are after 10 games of the new season.
Time for the new recruits and Manager to show their intent.
Best of luck to them and hope we all end up pleasantly suprised!

Good grief, yes. Mick Butler, skinnny little centre forward at Worsborough Bridge, ex-miner. What use could he possibly be? Turned out alright though didn't he, albeit at Fourth Division level. Sold him for a mighty profit £20,000! Wonder if the Bridge had a sell on clause in that deal?

Players will get every chance from me and plenty of support.

It doesn't follow that if you question the transfer policy of the board then you also criticise the players. There are many on here admitting they are concerned about our prospects for the coming season, but you won't hear a bad word from them when it comes to individual player performances.

I think the vast majority of our fans do give new players their full backing, my old friend.

There's a big difference to have some misgivings about the nature of our recruitment and not supporting the team. I want every player we sign to work out and be successful so they have my support.

I'm sorry, but there's an unhealthy amount of posters who disagree with signings before they even see them play and will continue to vilify them no matter how they perform.
