A day in and the gum is dealing with the worst parts of the cravings, but WHY DID NOBODY TELL ME HOW HUNGRY I'D BE? I'm going to be a right fat b;astard if I make it through.
Keep it up mate. Might just be the smartest move you ever make. Put he money you save into a jar. That should help.
I've done 8 months now. Well worth it. I am always hungry too, even more so now I'm attempting to diet to shift what I've put on. Stick at it mate.
It's easy pal, I've done it 3 times, On a serious note good luck, at one point I was 40 a day but quit, 9 years ago and never looked back
Keep at it mate . I did it 13 years since and never looked back. It's all about willpower as you'll be aware, its not gonna be easy by any means but the weight can be dealt with later. I found the anti smoking classes in town were very helpful by sharing tips and experiences ,for instance my main time for smoking was on a morning.I'd get up for work and my breakfast consisted of coffee and three cigs and that was it. I was advised to drop the coffee have some cereals with fruit juice and it worked as I didn't crave as much without the coffee. Anyway good luck mate and if you need any advice or encouragement I'm sure a post on the board will prove fruitful It's a great feeling and you will feel better.
Good luck. I've been given up nearly seven years and I'm still fighting cravings. I got an e-cig last year and that's helping a lot.
Like Mario says, the electronic cigs help a lot, especially if you tend to fancy a cig when out for a drink, possibly with mates who smoke. Good investment at about £15-£20 or so, take it out of your "money saved by not smoking" pot. Buy lots of berries etc to keep around the house to pick at when you get the craving. Staves off the craving and they're healthy too.
Or move the second quotation mark one word to the right! Dubious choice of words, I agree. Made a right pig's ear of things there. Cough!
Cheers guys. I actually had a vapouriser a few years ago when I was trying to cut down on smoking rather than quit, but never really got to grips with it - if I have trouble over the next few days I might try and dig it out. Like the idea of the berries, although I'm not sure they'll last long - got through an entire packet of dried fruit and nuts this evening along with my tea and most of a packet of biscuits. I think mornings are the big test for me as well - managed it today (first day and all that) without too much trouble - might purposely make myself sleep in so that I've no time to do anything but jump out of bed and go to work tomorrow!
