Glavin wins hands down on the goal per game ratio, but 44% of his games were in tier 3 and the remaining 56% in tier 2. 14% of Redfearn's games were in tier 1 and the remaining 86% in tier 2.
All competitions
Glavin Tier 3 - 95 Apps, 47 goals (goal every 2.02 games) Tier 2 - 120 apps, 45 goals (goal every 2.66 games) Overall - 215 Apps, 92 goals (goal every 2.34 games) Redfearn Tier 1 - 46 apps, 14 goals (goal every 3.28 games) Tier 2 - 292 apps, 69 goals (goal every 4.23 games) Overall - 338 games, 83 goals (goal every 4.07 games)

Yer abet it was 10 times easier to score them days.. In division 3 aswell! Like playing blind teeeam abet.
Dixon . It is still a hanging offence to Diss KING Ronnie Glavin (kissmyass) (kissmyass) (kissmyass) (kissmyass)
RE: Dixon . It is still a hanging offence to Diss KING Ronnie Glavin I like to disagree with people on here..
It has been noticed Some on here just come on to try and make themselves look clever and just get on peoples nerves
You don't mention their playing records for other clubs, Glavin played for Celtic alongside Kenny Dalgleish and scored more goals than him.
It's not all about goals ya' know another side to this arguement is that Redfern was a better all round midfielder than Glavin (hidebehindsofa)

Thats the main point in this argument for me. Redfearn proved himself in a Barnsley shirt at the very top level. In fact he played his best football the higher we got. Glavin was a great player but Redfearn was the all-round midfielder. If you compare the two on goals scored only that is forgetting everything else that Redders brought to the team. Both fantastic talents though. Wish we had them both for the coming season.

Yes it does include cup games for both Maybe ought to have seperated the cup games. There is the argument that the tiered figures are distorted by the differing quality of opposition in the Cup games, but doing it that way also takes into account the quality of their colleagues while playing in a specific tier, who after all helped them score in those games. Cup - Glavin scored 19 goals in 32 games (a goal every 1.68 games) Cup - Redfearn scored 12 goals in 46 games (a goal every 3.83 games) Glavin was especially good in the cup, but then you could argue that he had more opportunity to play in the early rounds than Redders! Taking the cup games out of tier 2 (the level they can be best compared) leaves: Tier 2 - Glavin scored 35 goals in 103 games (a goal every 2.94 games) Tier 2 - Redfearn scored 61 goals in 255 games (a goal every 4.18 games) As others have said though there was much more to Redders game. The complete midfielder: grafter, creator, scorer and leader. Glavin and Redfearn together would have been the ideal central midfield.
what a pointless post, both were Barnsley Legends in their own way...end of story no need to single one out as better than the other, They both gave us sweet memories.
look at it logically both are heroes, both are legends, both did wonderful things for the club, why try and place one over the other when their achievments are of differing achievments yet still a massive part of the clubs history, I really see no point.I was not trying to belittle you sweety, but just say that we should not do this to two of our legendary players. Its like asking Man Utd fans who is the best between Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson, or Liverpol fans between Bob Paisley and Bill Shankly...WHY do you need to do it.But if insulting me helps you vindicate your poll then go ahead insult me. how strange.
RE: look at it logically It was compiled in response to a debate already going on further down the board. As for my reply to you, it irritates me that some people on here put in a lot of effort doing something constructive for the benefit of others and then get a completely needless reaction.
RE: look at it logically wel if you had said that to me I would have accepted that and examined my initial response, and perhaps re-thought it,but there was absolutely no need for the way you spoke to me at all.
Redfearn was one of the greediest players Barnsley have ever had. I think when you say he was a better all round midfielder , you are mistaken. Redfearn thought he had a devine right to take any freekick and woe betide anyone that took one instead, ask Barnard against Bolton(?) he scored and was still getting bollocked for 10 mins after. Redders always had to shoot, fair enough he scored some corkers, but there were numerous occasions during the Prem season that he should have passed to a better positioned player, ask Ashley Ward what he feels about that? Glavin was a player that could knock a 50 yrd pass and then get into position to finish off the move, he worked hard in defence too, tracking back and breaking up the oppositions play. Both Player deserve to be legends at Oakwell, but there will only ever be 1 true GOD> ALL HAIL KING RONNIE (worship) (worship) (worship) (worship)
