I wondered at the time if it was still out Maxwell caught it in the field of play, threw it up and then stood beyond the boundary, jumping in the air again to re catch it without first re entering the field of play... Hence still beyond the boundary? umpires give it out so I can't be right!!
Saw it, unbelievable! BUT...... I'm sure his second catch was over the boundary ropes?!? Thought he'd get pulled for it..... but excellent work(Yorkie agent)
Super catch but according to the laws it is surely illegal Law 19.4 states (i) the first contact with the ball is by a fielder, not touching or grounded beyond the boundary Maxwell was inside the boundary when he first caught it who has some part of his person grounded within the boundary which he did when first catching it or whose final contact with the ground before touching the ball was entirely within the boundary which it wasn't because his final contact with the ground before he took the actual catch was outside the boundary
Goes down for me as one of the great catches at any form of cricket and deserves to be shown again and again. I think that the Headingley crowd appreciated what they had just witnessed, judging y the applause when the 'out' decision was confirmed. By any standards, an extra-ordinary bit of skill and agility. Memorable. Thanks, Glenn.
