This threads just got me thinking of Ian Wardle, Especially when he used to come for crosses. All 5'7"or was it 5'8" of him. Made me chuckle. Good stopper though but made Clive Baker look like Schmeical in comparison.
Ian Wardle I was behind the nets at a midweek game at Portvale when he broke his leg. Heard it crack and so did alot of people, it was awful. Stevie Cooper went in the nets and did well
I was behind the same net, believe it or not. Was a terrible injury. Stevie Cooper RIP did brilliant in goal, was laughing all over his face as he saved shots and punched out corners etc. I remember thinking how come he can jump so high when trying to head a ball but he seemd rooted to the ground when trying to catch a cross?????
