Cheers Mate, confirms what I thought, Colgan was at fault for both goals nt

How can you make that judgement

for the 1st goal. Colgan wasnt in view on that clip so him being out of position is impossible to judge.

Course there are tons of better keepers available to a struggling Championship club we could take our choice from. Lucas we've seen once, he looked ok BUT IF he's better than Colgan why couldnt he get a contract earlier in the season?

Of course you can make it

Out of position or not, you can see from the clip that he has the reach to get there (for the 1st), but the ball still goes through/over his hands. For the second, goalkeepers learn how to cover their near post in primary school. Yes, it goes through players and he is unsighted, but either the gap left at the post is too big or he reacts too slowly.

I understand why some on here want to defend a player that made a huge contriubtion last season, and has done so at times this season too. I also don't like the idea that plenty want to make him a scapegoat and will try to tell you that if we had a different goalie, we'd be top of the league now. In just the same way that Nardi would have scored 30 goals.

I have one of Colgans fiercest critics this season, and have advocated another goalkeeper for a very long time (if the search function worked on the site I'd have a go at finding evidence!), and I do think that he makes too many mistakes and doesn't command his area well enough for a keeper in this division. Unfortunately, neither manager has been willing to make the change, probably due to the fact that we didn't have the options within the club. Of course I remember the clown Vito, and was desperate to see Colgan back then! I also feel that SD had the perfect opporunity to give Lucas a try after he replaced Colgan at Hull. With goalies, I think a fair approach is to stick with the man with the shirt until such a time as you feel he's performing badly, then give the other fella a try.

Someone suggested yesterday that Nick has gone downhill since John Lukic left the club - maybe there is some truth in that because Lukic was a quality keeper, and one thing he knew above all was that the penalty box is his domain, and God help anyone that got in his way.

As for lack of alternatives, sorry I don't buy that. Dean Kiely spent time on loan at Luton this year, and when I posted this as a possiblilty it was said that we had just signed Lucas as cover so there was no point. Mark Crossley is working down the road, would he not perhaps have preferred a move home? Would Barnsley even try for players of this quality? I'm not saying these players specifically should have signed because I don't know the ins and outs of wage demands etc. but I do feel we should have been looking for a keeper that could challenge Colgan for the first team spot rather than backup, and with Letheran, Mannone (AR's efforts) and Lucas (SD) it is clear that this was never the aim.

Because he hadn't recovered from his long term injury at that point. If he hadn't got that injury he would still be first choice at Wednesday in my opinion.

Your point about Lukic is spot on

Not only Colgan suffered but look how Scotty has gone downhill without him

not seem him this season tbh

I don't know why he left but I hope the club didn't underestimate his value. I suppose Kelham O'Hanlon was a keeper, so it's his responsibility now. We need something to change with Colgan, because he has been playing very poorly since xmas at least.

    Just as Lukic left

Scotty now at Brighton on loan and it is looking like we made a shrewd deal.

Performances seem to have slipped since he left the Well & Lukic tutoring

IMHO Lukic was one of the reasons we got all those promising young keepers on loan before
