Before everyone gets overly jingo-istic. Spare a thought too, for the 1400 innocent lives lost in that raid, including many, many women and children. Over half being Ukrainian prisoners of war in forced labour camps and munitions factories directly in the path on the ensuing floods. I used to live on the flightpath to Duxford. Quite often saw a Lancaster with a Spitfire and Hurricane escort fly over - amazing sight and sound (or if you're in the same mindset as our lass "it's just 3 planes").
