I lived there for three years, it is a top quality night out, although I left about seven years ago so no doubt everywhere has changed hands now. Its a very small city centre so you can't really go wrong, but for a nice beer in the afternoon go to The Anchor and The Mill, near the bridge next to Queens College just down from Pembroke College, also the pubs by Magdalene Bridge are very scenic.

The Eagle is also good near the Market Square, can't remember what the street is called that its on though - its just off Kings Parade.

    Another good option

A brilliant pissed up afternoon if the weather is good is to hire a punt down the Cam, which runs right through the centre of town past all the Colleges, and take a crate of beer on there - they always allowed us to do it no bother when I was a student there.

Really scenic and just a quality unusual afternoon out.

    Sure you'll enjoy it.

Regent Street's the main boozin drag, plenty of the usual city centre type bars. Alternatively (or also :D ) there might be a turn on at the Junction worth seeing.
