I didn't go today, but I agree that if you have 18 shots on goal the solution probably isn't another striker. On the other hand, I have difficulty in believing that it's a "freak result" when we're sat mid table and repeatedly losing to clubs in the bottom three. It suggests to me that teams have got our number and are finding it relatively simple to play against us, no matter how flattering the stats look. If we'd beaten Doncaster, Shrewsbury and Blackpool and lost today's game then he might have had a point , but the fact is that we took 1 point from a possible 12 in those fixtures. At some point you've got to look at the possibility that there's a pattern.
There are 20 efforts on goal and there are 20 efforts on goal. Hopeful rubbish shots with no power or accuracy from 30 yards out count as efforts in goal but in reality they are wasted opportunities taken BECAUSE there is no options ahead of them
If we are looking at efforts on goal, Crewe had 5 and every one on target, we had about 20 with about 7 on target
It was a "freak result" in as much as beating Burton was. There was nothing freakish about our inability to create decent chances in the second half.
