Thought we played ok first half, B/ham took their chance (yet again another goal from a corner how many is that this season ?) did well to get back into the game so soon after conceding and good goal for greening getting forward (doesnt do enough of that for me tbh def think he has more goals in him).

Second half pretty much played well (if not a little ponderous and slow) , dagnell had a great chance still not sure if he missed it or it missed him , did play well though i thought, oh and a mention for hassell who almost scored the goal of the season!!. Then the penalty , that along with bringing perkins off a few minutes earlier definitely turned the game could almost see the shoulders of our players drop after davies missed it, i think they realised that was the chance to get this home hoodoo off their back.

After B/ham scored their 2nd was pretty much desperation stuff after that but at least more urgency getting the ball into the box and but for a very good save from their keeper from done we might have got a point.

Trying to be positive and upbeat but there are a few things

1/ Why can we not defend a corner ? havent been able to do this all year - defender needed Keith ?
2/ Why are we so slow coming forward, week in week out we win the ball in midfield and then pass sidewards ?? take so long getting forward that by the time we do the opposition have regrouped
3/ Bizarre decisions from the manager -
5th October Alnwick will probably be Barnsleys number 1 goalkeeper by time his baby his born in 5 weeks time - 3rd Nov Steele brought back into the team
15th Nov - Keith Hill admits its unlikely Bobby Hassell will play in defence again ... 26th Dec v b/ham hassel central defence
seem to remember he said something similar to the press about wiseman being a great captain and central defender and then dropped him days after !!!

Like i said trying to be upbeat but think we have serious problems within the club at all levels and although takeovers can be bad as well as good i do feel a new broom throughout wouldnt necessarily be a bad thing.

I was the same, pondering why we are letting crosses in. I was sat near away end today and saw exactly why. Steele is a good stopper, dives well, but will not come out and command inside 6 yard box. Stops on line like Colgan did. Therefore our defence have to get up to ball. We have no big boss man in middle, hence bullied out of it and ball flies past Steele who is stuck like **** to a blanket on goal line. Buttner flies out and dominates his goalmouth. When we attack we pass, pass, pass, pass, and meanwhile they sit in middle waiting. We do not break out fast enough with bodies hence lone rangers are out gunned. We are in deep trouble, and if Driscoll has just been sacked then jump in Barnsley club car and go and fetch him.

The difference in the 2 keepers today at corners etc, was that Brum got bodies around Steele making it very difficult for him to get out to a cross, whereas when Barnsley had a corner, the keeper hd no-one near him , making it very easy for him to come out and get to the crosses.
It is something we never do and it is a clear failing in our tactical set up.

Difference being the ball will be going forwards a lot more than at the present.
I like passing football, what I dont like is the silly thing like Greeing with him running up to the player with the ball , demanding it from 2 yards away, then turning and passing it 5 yards square or back, the demanding it back and repeating the same scenario! It happens far too often . Also the stupid freekick situation! Just before halftime we got a freekick, everyone knew it was the last chance of the half, what did we do? Did we get some men into the box and try and create a chance? did we ****, we passed it short and pissed about till the whistle went!!!
