He must have been up on acid all night... http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/foot...-scott-golbourne-eyes-play-off-push-1-4593768
Club comes out and says we are happy to survive, get slated for being negative. Player comes out and says we're aiming for the play-offs, gets slated for being positive. Can't ****ing win.
I was waiting for that exact same reply........ what do you want him to say we're going down... do you want him to be negative?? No probably realistic or keep quiet, we have a manager that uses his mouthpiece too much, that interview is comedy gold when we've scraped survival.
I like Golbourne ,one of Hills better signings, at least there is someone at the club who is optimistic. However Bolton and Blackburn are not 'big' clubs , despite the investment they have had over the last 15yrs they are in the same league as us and I think one of them could struggle next season.
I see nothing wrong with a player being positive & optimistic And I'm at a loss to understand why his attitude should be construed as something bad, unnecessary, unwanted or unwarranted.
Positive message from Oakwell Nice one Scott. It'll not go down so well where the paper clips are counted mind.
We need some middle ground. Him as a player saying play offs is a bit too realistic and our manager saying 4th bottom is a success is too negative. We could do with someone just saying we are aiming for at least mid table. In his second season with us after a year to adjust to this level Jim O Brien when not injured was one of our best players. If the likes of Done, Mcnulty, Wiseman, Davies etc can improve a year on like JOB did we will be further up the table.
Re: I see nothing wrong with a player being positive & optimistic Excellent attitude, realistic? no. On the other hand we have a manager telling us were lucky to be in this division and we are struggling to compete. If l told my mates l think we could push for a play off place next season they'd seriously question my sanity and drug intake. Maybe Scott could have a word with Keef & The Don and spread a bit of positivity to them, The Don's already getting a supplier for seat cushions next season for when our arses are severely nipping.
If it's what he honestly thinks Then I don't see why he's not entitled to voice his opinions. Personally, I can't see us challenging for the Play Offs as young Scott says, but I'm not going to knock him for seeing things differently to me. There's been enough bad vibes & negativity coming from various fans, the team itself and club representatives for some considerable time now. It's made a pleasant change to hear from a player with a positive attitude and outlook, in my opinion.
Re: I agree with you exactly the kind of attitude that should be given credit for, just need to hear more of it
At the start of the season, every team in the division *should* be aiming for the play-offs. Even those who ultimately will have a season-long struggle to avoid relegation. The fans are optimistic and so should the players, management and directors.
Re: Positive message from Oakwell I can see him being released soon. Fair play to the lad. It sounds better than Foster.
Re: If it's what he honestly thinks I agree, I like his attitued and its really nice to hear positivity coming from some parts of the club. Long may it continue.
Re: Positive message from Oakwell Don't think there's anything particularly wrong with either to be fair. Foz's being honest Golbourne's being a touch more ambitious.
This thread is mental. People get monk on about realism and ask for positivity. We get positivity and people get monk on and ask for realism.
