Seconded. As Hemsy says in another thread, Federer would have been massively up for this one, it's the one title he's missing and his last chance to win it, he just had no answer to Murray's game today. Absolutely brilliant to see Murray despatch the greatest ever player so clinically - the magic of a home Olympics continues!
So glad I got up early to watch that. Tremendous last 24 hours for Britain - even the Canadian commentators are going mad about Britain's performance at the Olympics. This is absolutely brilliant to watch.
Its not often I agree with Hemsy but spot on on this - this was the one Federer really wanted - bet he would swap the result from 4 weeks ago if he could Dont forget Murray also beat Djokovic in the semi so no one can claim he had an easy ride either
It was an incredible performance. At one point Federer didn't win a game for going on an hour. Wonderful stuff! Let's hope he makes it two with Laura Robson!
Think its also worth adding what a true sportsman Federer is, he must have been absolutely gutted but still smiled and congratulated Murray in what looked like a very genuine manner
Absolutely outstanding performance that will give him no end of confidence in future tournaments. Beating the top 2 in consecutive matches without dropping a set is some achievement. And I did laugh when one of the commentators nicknamed Roger Federer "the goat", haven't heard that before
