I think we're doing Man City a huge favour by giving this lad game time at Championship level. Let's be honest, he's nowhere near ready yet. He might in a couple of years, but today he was a liability. He links play well at times, but offers nothing in the opposition final third and gives the ball away far too easily in dangerous areas. Lots of promise but shouldn't be in a Championship side yet...
He’s a good promising player but gave away far too many simple balls around the centre of the pitch that could have cost us. Some lively link play though. Needs a better partner than we have available.
He’ll be a good player in a couple of season but he’s a liability right now. Central midfield is our biggest problem right now
He’s our best midfielder by an absolute mile. He did give it away cheaply in the 2nd half but he ran the game in the first.
Thought Styles was worse than him on the ball. He had a dodgy 4,5,6 minutes or so in the second half what I think dampened his performance, but overall thought he did well.
He's just starting out and learning his trade - we've had a few raw looking loanees who have gone and done well - Ivan Toney, Chris Woods to name two. There's a decent player in there
In the running for MOTM for me. Just run out of steam in the second half. Can't be easy for him being partnered with Backpass Benson or Palmer knowing he's always going to get subbed off. If in January we can bring in someone who can play 90 minutes regularly alongside him he will look even better.
He was my MOM closely pipping Morris. We gave the ball away on numerous occasions all across the pitch but I thought his constant probing made us tick.
I think you are right but what I don’t understand is how developing him fits our model. If he becomes decent Man City will sell him next season. If he doesn’t make it we have carried a player with no value. If we can’t sign experienced players because we won’t be able to sell at a profit why are we taking on other sides youngsters who aren’t really ready yet?
We've done this for years though haven't we - we would never be able to sign players like this. We do benefit but sadly on a short term basis. Remember years back when we got Siggi Johnson so he could get game time and improve him
I'm personally all for these type of signings aslong as it's complemented with an experienced permanent for example. Let's be honest there is no way he would have been a top transfer target, the time in which he came in suggests we were already well down the 'list'. So the fact we are pinning our hopes on a youngster on loan with such little experience says everything about our recruitment in the summer.
He’s playing a league above himself. I’m sure he’s gonna be top quality Champ player one day as he does the basics quite well but anything more than a 10 yard pass and he’s stuck. Needs to be replaced in Jan. I’m sure he’d be decent next season for us once we finally get put out of our misery and get relegated to League 1.
Absolutely this. Apart from a handful of sloppy passes late on, I thought he had a really good game. Covers loads of ground, seems to have extra time on the ball, close control excellent & wriggles out of tricky situations with ease. His City pedigree is so clear to see.
Our only midfielder to get the ball and look up the pitch rather than sideways or backwards. To say he’s as young as he is he was excellent yesterday barring an iffy 5 mins in the second half where he was trying to force the pass to the statues in front of him (I don’t include Morris in the statues statement). He’ll go on to have a very decent career after being here.
Our best midfield prospect in my opinion is sat on the bench but once again we have to give game time to someone else’s player, ffs play our young players
With the ball at his feet, he's brilliant. Nobody seems to get anywhere near him. His decision making, particularly in and around the box, is a lot more miss than hit. He isn't breaking up play when the opponent are in possession like N'Golo Kante, who he was likened to when we signed him. I find it strange that you've singled him out for criticism though when he was certainly one of our better players yesterday.
