best championship manager game by far 2001-2002. wasted many hours on that. i took hull city from 4th tier to premier league champs and champions league finalists. i bought a player for hull early on from colwyn bay for 5k, Rudi Geens they called him, reight laker, 20 goal a season man until i bought maby sidibe, he scored for fun. it took my life for months. i were writing down new formations to play whilst at work and transfer targets, even as sad as interviewing myself whilst making a brew about the next game. barmy...but good times

I remember winning the UEFA Cup with Barnsley CM 01/02 I was 4-0 down at half time and won 5-4 I had Gazza and Tugay in midfield, following season I made the champions league final but was sacked in pre-season by the new owner after not winning any friendly games

I signed a lad called Meysam Javan on Champ Man around that time, a striker from some 4th tier Swedish club. He was 22 years old, had 20 for pace, anticipation and stamina. Cost me £5,000, wage of about £500 p/w. I had him up front with Rory Fallon. Scored 20 goals by Xmas, then got a bad injury that ruled him out for about 9 months. I wish I'd flogged him. We still got promoted though. Because of his injury, his stats didn't really increase and in the Prem that first season I signed some big names like Merson and Agohawa up top. But when he came back from injury in October or summat, he came off the bench and scored a winner at Anfield. He kept on scoring, then got injured around Xmas again, out for the season. He ******* retired. Seriously.

It's amazing the stuff you remember. So many memories of that game. I signed Nardiello on loan one night for Barnsley, the next day we signed him on loan in real life. Bizarre.

I've never found this Meysam Javan character in real life, I wonder if he actually existed?

I never had Cherno Samba. Did have that Kennedy Bakircioglu though who went on to amazing things. Think he was from Sweden n all.

I miss Champ/Football Manager. Just not got the spare hours for it these days. Eats away at your time.

Cherno weren't that good in my version. He was alright, but not super special. I had the same game but a later update full of superstar Greeks: Alexandros Papadopoulos, Anastasios Skalidis and Nikolaos Tobros.

'sales of the shirts bearing Alexandros Papadopoulous' name have been flying off the shelves, so much so that we've run out of the letter O'
