Interesting that he was shortlisted for St Etienne CEO job in Jan and chose to remain with us. Also that Beane is in contact almost every day.
Very good article and am more impressed with Gauthier each week. Wasn’t sure about his experience at first, and he’s obviously still learning, but he clearly has a vision for the club. Good to hear something about Billy Beane as well. Wonder if we can expect to see 1 or 2 more left field signings like Kenny Dougall. I hope so!
Can't fathom Beane's involvement really. He's not listed on Companies House and other posters have stated he has no stake in the club??
There is no doubt about it GG is one smart cookie & that we are fortunate to have him at the helm , yet whenever something goes wrong at the club he seems to get it in the neck but for me I think his stock is rising & as a club we will do well to keep him here .
We don’t know what he’s like behind the scenes. He maybe brilliant - but we don’t know. All what we know is what we see and hear. And that’s not much. He has to understand that Mansford showed the way in how to lift the profile of the club locally and how to form strong links with the fans. Ganaye has yet to do this. Jury still out.
He shits all over Mansford, strong links with the fans? Last week he achieved that with one letter, better than anything Ben did.
Mansford was called ******** Ben for a reason. What did he did do to form strong links with the fans? Go on a few walks? Talk a lot on the radio? GG seems a much more intellectual, genuinely nice guy.
Good read thanks for posting. He's certainly raised the club's profile recently. And when he speaks he does so very well, I'm sure he's not perfect but he does seem driven to do well for us.
I'm guessing long term he wants the ceo job at Nice. If he impresses his bosses here that's where they'll transfer him. Well, I say long term, probably medium term as if he does a good job there then he'll have his pick of clubs. If that's his ambition which it certainly sounds like.
Difference for me between GG and Ben, was Ben was all about the here and now where GG is about the bigger long term picture. I know which one I would rather have running the club
"All we know is what we see & hear , & thats not much" , Have you read the article ? there is plenty there that is commendable about GG & in recent times he appears to be building bridges with the fan base , but the truth is that you have been against him since his appointment Nudger. He comes across as very professional & for someone who came to the club at a difficult time he appears to have got to grips with the job in a very positive manner , i believe you are in a minority & the fan base are warming to him.
I’m fairly confident Gauthier isn’t too concerned with the musings of Chris on here. In a town the size of Barnsley you’ll have to accept a few will be short of a sandwich in their hamper. If I was Gauthier I would be more concerned if Nudger was saying I was doing a good job.
Fantastic article, that. I liked Ben Mansford, but I wouldn't take him over Gauthier right now. Could well be. He seems a very ambitious guy. I wouldn't hold it against him. The CEO at Nice has been there since 2011, so he seems settled himself. Great Post.
Well said. It is possible that both Mansford and Ganaye have been good for the club. I thought Mansford was excellent. Ganaye, though slightly less visible, is shaping up very well.
