Been here once before, but can anyone recommend some good books to read? I love crime stories, have read and absolutely loved the Grant County Series by Karin Slaughter and books by Mark Billingham. I'm really struggling to get into Kathy Reichs Bones series so I'm after something else to read - suggestions most welcome :D

Sheila Quigley is good for crime/thriller and i like Mandasue Heller who is a similar style to Martina Cole, and you can't beat good old Lynda La Plante.

I used to get all my books off ebay as i buy that many, but i now find it cheaper to get them off play.com as they do new & used and it's free postage. People on ebay tend to make money on selling books by charging extra on the postage costs.

    Try Captain Robert Nairac.

Its about an SAS Captain who was the first person to get into the IRA. Lots of smoke and mirrors. The facts its true as well makes it a great read.

You could try Tess Gerritsen's crime novels ....and if you haven't read Donna Tart's Secret History or The Little Friend then buy them quick!

same woman , but she writes totally different styles as each pseudonym.
James Patterson is very good too, the Alex Cross novels are top notch.

Best ones I have read recently are the Inspector Wallender series by Henning Mankell - helps if you read them in order but not essential

    http://www.henningmankell.com/crime/index.shtml

also Iain Rankins Rebus series is quite good if you like detective stories

Not in the crime genre, but a cracking read all the same.
