Out for rest of the season and World Cup coming up... Reading between lines it looks like he has played his last match for the Reds. I have a feeling as have many people that he won't be the last to leave either. The latest statement from our CEO doesn't fill me with confidence in the clubs immediate future either.
He needs to have played his last game for Barnsley if we're to get our finances in shape. And sadly, he shouldn't be the only one.
Yep, his immediate priority will be to keep his place in the Poland squad for the World Cup and so he'll be desperate to secure a move to a first or highly ranked second tier league particularly given their new manager doesn't seem to rate him quite as much as the previous one. Maybe there's a suitor in Turkey for him?
he'll definitely go. and we won't be told how much we get for him. and what we do get, will likely be used to repay Club debts.
Certainly possible - "For the 2022-23 campaign, a maximum of 12 foreign players will be able to be registered with a Super Lig club, but only seven can play at any one time" There's a few I'd drive to Turkey myself!
Played all season like he knew it would be his last. His agent will have been touting him around since last summer off the back of the abnormality of a decent season.
Got in last season team of the year too. Are we doing another Mowatt, not knowing what we've got till it's gone?
I know what we have got - a really good defender who is far too good for L1 and no question he will not play for us again - very sad
We all know he is a good player but been realist its obvious he will be sold. But on the other players people keep telling me how good styles, anderson, brittain, woodrow etc are but to be honest the only players ill be sad to see go are helik, collins and morris and woodrow but more because of the loyalty he has shown and the time he has been here.
It really doesn't matter. I'd rather cover our debts than have Helik (or anyone really) on the books.
I am not being funny but we are still playing in this current season so how do you know we will only sell 5000 , obviously sales will be down but you are guessing yet saying things as if they are fact, things can change in 4 months which can vastly alter sales .
This comment is redundant really, because I'd expect anyone who loved the club to share that mentality. Still, doesn't mean it'd be any less saddening seeing such a fantastic player leave. I think he improves Andersen too.
I was replying to someone else who said 5k i never initially said that. Id be suprised if we sold anymore than 6k.
I don't think anyone thinks Helik is anything other than a good player mate but he's not going to seriously jeopardise his chances of going to the World Cup, which is probably a once in a life time opportunity for him, by playing third tier football. I remember Jacob Burns having to move for the same reason. So even if we didn't need several millions of income from sales to just stay afloat, which sadly we do, we couldn't keep him. And I say that as someone who's as 'man the barricades' as anyone when it comes to trying to hang on to our better players. (I think the reference to driving players to the airport etc was tongue in cheek and about lesser talented players).
It was about 8000 ST holders before last season we added a large number on the back of our play off season. We all know what happened then. Ismael and the back room staff gone, Mowatt gone, Kane gone (for the season?)and Dike gone, Chief Exec. gone, Conway’s close season with additions not quite up to the job and Olare who I suspect we will never actually know if he is up to the job. Thus we will lose the vast majority of those who enrolled this season and a significant number of long standing ST holders. It has got to go down as one of the worst years (June to May) on record.
