can it affect the graphics/screen display on our rather slow, clogged up laptop?
The screen seems to break up, straight lines are broken and sometimes "boxes" of lines appear briefly then vanish.
The screen also wavers a bit.
    Suggestions?

Sounds like your video card is on its way out to me. Try Firefox or summat and see if it does the same...

Try a different internet browser, like Firefox or internet explorer. If it continues doing the same it's your computer. You could try deleting stuff you don't need, making sure all your windows updates are up to date, running a full virus scan, disk cleanup, a defrag and un-checking any programs you don't want running on start-up in msconfig (almost all of them apart from your anti-virus software). If none of that works, you may have to invest in a new laptop if you can't live with it.

If Firefox or internet explorer work ok then it's a problem with Chrome. You could stick with one of those two, or another, there are many free browsers out there, but if you really want Chrome I'd do all of the above as a matter of course plus uninstall and reinstall Chrome to see if that works.

    Thanks .
I have run Int Explorer and it works and looks fine.
I've also already uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome and it still falters.
I've run virus/malware checks and it shows clean.
It must be something in the "demands" of Chrome that stress the pc out a bit too much.
