'Foreign players dive because they'll do anything to win a football match, they'll do anything to relieve their family from poverty'. Football people just aren't on this planet. They'll have probably earned enough in their first week of a professional contract to free their family's from poverty. What an unbelievable statement.
Just 10mins ago on ITV coverage. They were talking about 'should England be more streetwise' re elbow foul on Sturridge etc.
they dive because they are pussies and cheating *******s end of, cant stand watching south american teams, spain and portugal. Total ******
Like most other ex pros he has had his sense or perspective, reality and judgement removed and is fluent in talking utter ******.
The blokes is superb that statement won him loads of respect after he said ot following his journey through the Mexican shanties towns
His choice of words might not be the best but his point is right. The smaller nations see these tournaments as a chance to make a name for themselves & get a contract which will make them financially secure for the rest of their lives & they raise their game for the tournament & will do anything to win / progress. We on the other hand try to play the 'proper way' & get conned on a regular basis by smarter, cheating players. I can only imagine how many Uruguayan players would've surrounded the ref to get Godin sent off if he was English. We're more naive than anything. It reminds me of Barnsley not taking throwing's & free kicks 5 yards further forwards & then watching opposing teams take the piss with every one.
If it had been an England player he'd been off. I have no doubt at all. If England had a key player with a dodgy knee, Uruguay or Italy would've been through it in five minutes and immediate palms up 'what me ref?' followed by praying hands 'sorry' and soft yellow card. Player injured and done out of the game.
Only one way to stop that, kick his fu'cking teeth in, when rolling around as though they're on deaths door a quick hard stamp to the wind pipe. Then run off down the tunnel and smash the substitute as you go. 6 months in jail 12 months suspension and the rest of you career without people diving every time you go for the ball .
I like the sound of this. Danny Wilson pre-match (v Sheff Utd): Danny: Right Daws your job today is to take out that dee dar tw*t. Make sure you do him properly, I mean borderline GBH and don't worry your contract is safe. Oh and on the way off make sure you chin Morgan. Daws: You got it boss.
Yes the rolling around is ridiculous, that just shows you're not hurt because if you are you don't move at all, players who roll around should be booked, or the opposing team should be allowed to pile on top of them.
Why is his point right? Most of the players at the World Cup are playing at Championship level, minimum, and by that I mean the poorer players of Australia and Iran. They are not badly paid. Falcao may come from Colombia, a devastated conflict torn country where many people can't read and the government is corrupt. The bloke earns £350,000 Euros a week, in a tax haven as well. And Suarez, and Javier Hernandez, and Alexis Sanchez. Star players admittedly, but the rest of their teams still all play for La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A football. MLS in the case of the central americans (e.g. Costa Rica, Honduras etc.), and many in the Premier League. Strachan's comments are just about the most ignorant comments I have read. They sum up British arrogance, or what I had thought was English arrogance, to a tee. The idea that any player at the World Cup is living in a favela 'in poverty' is ridiculous. Is that what we imagine we will be facing in 3 hours time - a bunch of players that have been rushing to make kick off, after helping to repair one of their Dad's corrugated iron roof which blew off in the wind? They are international quality professional footballers for christ sakes, and they have employers who pay them well indeed for their services.
I was just meaning the general point that a lot of these lower ranked teams have hungrier players as they don't earn the type of wage players from England, Spain, Germany etc earn. Obviously the use of poverty's a bit silly by Strachan. A lot of these players don't earn mega bucks, certainly more than the average man but there career's tend to only last to mid-30's & when you're a Costa Rican, Honduran, Algerian etc there's no long career in the media or high earning jobs as a coach for most. They've got a short career where they're absolutely desperate to get that big contract which will mean they'll never have to work again. The wages in the MLS are ridiculous. When Beckham was at LA Galaxy there were several first team players at the same club on less than $20,000 dollars a year. It's not a league with high average wages, just a few stars taking the big contracts. In England we've got kids at Chelsea, Man Utd, City etc on close to 10k a week & they've never played for the first team. It's hard to tell who tries / doesn't try but there's certainly a lot more motivational reasons to have a good World Cup if you're Costa Rican than English
The only dive I have seen so far is that ridiculous cheating collapse by Sturridge in the box. If not poverty, what was that motivated by - with nothing riding on the game??
