Where can I purchase one of these here 'lives'?

    Can I just have yours?
You're an owd gadger & won't need it much longer.

AFC are like jelly cricket bats.
    They have no practical purpose.

Well, I'm sorry for disliking something which uses BFC's facilities, takes away BFC's support, and yet which is apparently not a threat to BFC.

Your exhortation, by the way, that I (and others) should 'get a life' in no way alleviates the concerns that I have.

    I'm with you.

As opposed to all those other sporting clubs with practical purposes?

I can see your logic. I don't like to see young 'uns enjoying themselves either.

    Narr then.

My point is - they had a very specific purpose.
    Now they don't.
So why are they still here.

Agreed - As I've said before I do support grass-roots footy.
I've coached kids teams & all kinds of stuff.

You have also mixed up the AFC / grassroots angle.

I'm not against local, community based football.
I just honestly don't see the point of that particular club.

    How exactly? Complete tosh.

Instead of watching Barnsley FC's away games, a number of people choose to attend AFC's home fixtures.

That, I would concur, is taking away Barnsley FC's support, even if it's only a very small minority of fans.

What's the point of AFC, then, Windy? Put an ignoramus such as myself in the picture, please.

I dont care why it was started, I dont care if that reason doesnt exist any more.

I know that a few people put a lot of hard work (and maybe money) into it. Just cos the reason doesnt exist any more, why should they stop. They enjoy what they do, it doesnt hurt BFC, so whats the problem?

They should stop because they're (supposedly) supporters of Barnsley FC.

They're running a rival operation, which is detrimental to the prospects of Barnsley FC.

Unless someone can put me right on these assertions, I shall continue to hold this point of view. I wish nothing but ill-fortune on AFC, in the same way that I wish nothing but ill on the two Sheffield clubs.

Why is any club still playing?

Do they just go away now BFC is "saved"?

They can't still play because you don't want them to?

They have to have the same reason for existence they had at the outset?

Aye that's reight. I'M mixed up.

(And don't even think about prattling on about that old mission statement on their site Ack....er....Ponty.)

    What i don't get is...

how they are a threat for using our facilities? Never in a million years will they take support away from BFC or be as big as BFC!

Plus i do not see how they are a rival to us either, most of there fans go becasue they love football and want to support a local team as well as going to BFC games on a regular basis! Therefore using our facilities provides BFC with extra income or am i wrong?

also what acdemeny players have they taken from BFC or is are they just ex players who are not good enough to make it anymore?

    That particular club.

The objectives state 'local community' etc ... but then they re-locate from Cudworth (an area that needs as much help as it can get) to Oakwell?
    Makes no sense.

A community based team with a policy of taking promising kids from local teams & acting as a feeder club to BFC is fine.

    Is that what AFC is?

Don't go quoting Ponty, he's ready for the Home for the Hopelessly Bewildered.

What kind of a question is "What's the point" of a sports club?

Why is any club still playing?
Cos they are based upon the community.

    What the hell are AFC?
Based at Oakwell, set up in anger & have more secrets than MI5.

There's something not right about it all.
Either that or I'm completely wrong as per usual.

I've come to the conclusion that Neutrino is right and once AFCB folds we'll take 10,000 fans to every away game
