With our battle against relegation. This doesn't feel like a club on the verge of changing hands to me. It feels like a prudent, yet committed owner who is directly involved in revitalising the club from the top down. We are in a very difficult position in the league, but the failings that many supporters levelled at the club in recent years have been systematically addressed. Starting with Don's retirement, the arrival of Maurice Watkins and the appointment of Ben, who frankly I think has been a breath of fresh to the club. Flicker and the team did deserve a crack at this season following the heroics of last term's survival. I've read somewhere Flicker "fcked us over", - how exactly? He took a team on it's uppers, added Big Chris and shook a succession of amazing performances out of it, some of which made some of the top sides in the league look like the relegation favourites. They were not up to a second tilt, but it wasn't for the want of trying. Flicker also secured the permanent signing of Chris, brought in Paddy who divides opinion granted but has affected a couple of vital wins, - and Dale Jennings who we are now seeing what a player he can be and will flourish under Danny I'm sure. The Rochdale experiment is over. Did it work? Well, we are still in the Championship against all odds. I don't know what to make of it all, I'll get behind anyone who says the right things and looks half interested. And I naively think any lad to pull on a Barnsley Shirt is a potential world beater and I can never dislike them, purely for the reason the play for the Reds. (Apart from David Tuttle, not the worst player ever for BFC, but biggest waste of space while he was here.) Now this really does feel like a new era, from top to bottom. We could do with a marketing wizzard, but the air of little club with lower league players seems to be lifting, in my cloth head at least. I'm chuffed Danny's back, there is something very reassuring about his presence and I can listen to him talk football all day long. And he's getting the backing. I wouldn't have dreamt we'd push the boat out this far - relatively for us. It feels like a lot of players and I'm struggling to put a team together in my head. As was also said, there are a lot of contracts winding up and that should give us a clearer picture of what we have to go forward. To conclude (I never write this much, hardly ever and never know how or when to end) - I think we'll stay up. Frimpong is in for a right culture shock, I hope he can ride that okay, away from his posse and all the lingo. He's got his little boy and hopefully that will keep him grounded. Someone should tell him, he's not "babysitting" - that's called PARENTING!! You REDS!!
