Apparently sex offenders need to give their email address to the police so that the UK based networking sites can block registration of such undesirables

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7328170.stm

How that works for networking site based outside the UK like err Facebook isnt clear

    - luckily there is no easy way to work round such a system by registering for a free address with false details

I like the idea that they think people only have one email address and would not be able to get more.

If I wanted to, within 24 hours I could be paedo@kiddyfiddlers.*

Yeah, but if they lie about the e-mail address, the Government reckons they'll be in big trouble with a fine and everything.

    Possible ASBO?

That would stop me, no questions. But then again I am a more or less honest citizen with plenty to lose and not a psychologically bent sexual deviant with itchy palms (honest).

Maybe the thought of ten of the best with a slipper would make them change their minds.

    It's certainly got me thinking.
