Heard today of both Labour and Conservatives plans to find out those that are falsely claiming for disabilities and entice them to work.

Noble idea and I agree that there are too many workshy spongers living off my taxes, but :-

    1) Dont they know we are in deep recession and there arent enough jobs to go round for those that want them?

    2) Which employer would want to give a job to someone that clearly doesnt want to work and will only serve to disrupt the other members of staff?

Do they think these plans through??? Are the likes of Brown and Cameron really so detached from our reality that they think that these people can be changed into hard working members of society?

If you're going to make a correction to unemployment figure in order to save money estimated at 500,000 x £28 now is exactly the right time.

Or another way of looking at it

by what rules logic and morality are people who work forced to handover part of their income to people to whom they have no connection and who are not even interested in working?

The point is, many of the people claiming incapacity benefit aren't really entitled to it and it was a method of fudging unemployment figures. Whether there is work available or not. If I lost my job tomorrow, I don't think I should be considered disabled to keep the jobless numbers down.

    Okay...

£728 Million per annum then. Not enough to bail out the Halifax.

How much will come into the public purse when the banks we now own start making money (start? They never stopped)?

How much will they get sold off for?

I agree 100%. The debt the UK is in is down to a morally corrupt banking system and regardless of who we blame politically, the money has gone to prop them up. They should be paying the lot back in full with interest and covering the other losses as a result of that collapse. Rising unemployment claims etc should all be covered. **** the share holders, they gambled and lost. They can look at it as a much longer term investment, once the debt to the tax payer is repaid.

RE: If Govt exercised that sort of vigour on tax avoidance / evasion

They are vigourous enough when fining us self employed guys for late payment or returns. Not quite as quick at dealing with overpayments.

    I agree...

but NEITHER main party would do this. That is also why theis public finance debt figure is a load of ****...we have gained long term assets as a nation and the debts will get paid off OVER TIME.

I never understand who we owe the money to and who charges the interest. We should borrow money from Sharia Muslims because they (supposedly) don't believe in un-earned income i.e. interest.

They, like the banks, are NOT easy taregts..

that the right wing media get behind attacking. The fact is that many more millions are lost every year through tax avoidance and evasion. Add to that the damage done by the banks and the onscene bonues they have taken then we are now talking.

But your average DLA claimant can't afford fancy accountants and lawyers.
