Paying millions to get people into short term jobs why not train people properly to get sustainable and worthwhile jobs.
I have worked in private training organisations and in Colleges. The private organisations are just money making rackets but they do train cheaper than a College can. They are able to do that because their staff are generally poorly qualified and usually poorly paid.
A4E is just a sub contractor of Best. The so called Work Programme gets people back into full time employment and Best/A4E get money off the government for helping so it's a win/win situation. A lot of jobs these days get well over 100 applying for one position and companies don't want to spend forever going through all the applicants, so ask these government schemes to send them someone they trust to do the job, so they can save time.
I agree about the money making racket and under paid staff, having worked in a training organisation myself. Trouble is we were quite successful at getting folk into work and claiming the fee for doing so until the big wigs from Jobcenteplus told us we should concentrate on educating them to be able to find work, with basic skills, rather than to get them a job, which of course cost less. Only so much money in the pot because Governments of both colours only really pay lip service to it and what money there is on offer is taken up by chiefs and very little for the Indians and overcoming the jobless problem.
