Spent an interesting lunchtime today in the newly refurbished Cooper art gallery, where there is an exhibition of the Barnsley born artist Graham Ibberson. Apart from his painting he is most famous for his statues of Dickie Bird, Eric Morecambe, Cary Grant, Laurel & Hardy and 'The Jarrow March'. I got to thinking he would be the ideal candidate to be commissioned to create something similar at Oakwell, perhaps Tommy Taylor or Rev. Preedy. The club could even consider using some of the money from the sell-on of John Stones.
Same argument as the scoreboard. Why would the club spend similar money on a statue when I can look at a picture of them on my phone.
Why do anything that is aesthetically pleasing and promotes the Club's link with the football community?
He's already doing a Tommy Taylor one http://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/first-image-of-tommy-taylor-statue-released
